You haven't been shopping either of those if you think the gladiator is even in the same ballpark on price. I was ready to buy an Ineos, but went with the gladiator because it was half the price.
Not meant as a literal statement. It is called sarcasm. I spread it on everything.

It would be better to offer both the SO and HO Hurricane because they are 60 to 70 pounds lighter and you won't notice a power difference, but even they are 60+lbs heavier than the 3.6. HO in the Mojave for starters.

Cheapest new 392 at my local dealership is $101k

Could buy a stripper model and have AMW swap it and have money left over

The prices of the current Gladiators are already hilariously inflated. If they threw a Hemi in one, it would be just like the 392; a massive money grab. Gone are the days when Jeep makes a rugged, affordable package for the working man.

I'm hoping with CAFE, etc going away something like a 5.7 Hemi Gladiator would be a regular production model. I could see it limited to Sport Max Tow, Rubicon, and Mojave.

If Jeep was smart (a big if), the 5.7 would be an option on those trims for less than $5k. Similar to an optional engine on a Ram 1500.

Cafe (Corperate Average Fuel Economy) standards wont go away, but the requirement for average passenger car mpg, which is 50mpg by 2031, will probably see a reduction, but how much is not clear. What is not clear is how it actually impacts light trucks as there had been a loop hole in the past.

Because of political shifts every 4-8 years it becomes incredibly difficult for auto makers to constantly re-tool and re-launch things that reach the mandated goal. To think CAFE will just go away and boom everyone gets a cheap V8 is to ignore the ridiculsness of how this political game really is. When every the next person gets into office how do we know they wont backtrack on standard and put things back in another frenzy?

I think a better idea is to come up with a V8 upgrade that does not cost $35k, and is more DYI friendly. I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat, shit, I'll help with the engineering on it too!

CAFE has been around since 1975, it's not going away. They may tamp the most recent changes in requirements but by and large it will still be there (and thankfully so).

Cafe is one thing but I have a much bigger thing,,, CARB will not allow even a smog legal new crate engine swap. It is what it is. I have other options .

They won't lol. The gladiator has a production contract with the with the union till 2028. They'll fuck with pricing and colors, and packaging just to try and get sales up. But odds are they are gonna bandaid the fudge out of this shit show till they can retire the gladiator in 28'. Hell we are watching toyota hit a brick wall with the tacoma. They thought the name would carry them no matter what bullshit they slapped the badge on. People are done, nobody wants to pay 60k for this crap. Especially when Nissan is proving it can all be done for in the 28-37k range. More power, more efficient, and cheaper.
Nobody in their right mind would want a Nissan!
