So, confused to see this thread. I know my Jeep is slow; I love that about it. It keeps me from doing things like 110+ on the Penna Turnpike; those mountain curves are beautiful. :involve::stop:

Ditto. When I drive the JKR, I'm toodlin' along happily; not in a hurry. When I drive the Audi, I'm like "dang, I'm speeding again" and have to slow down. Especially on the highway. Plus I find people aren't driving fast enough for me and I start to get irate. In the Jeep, I sit in the slow lane and let the irate people blow past me in the fast lane.

I like that the Jeep forces me to slow down and not be so irate in traffic.

If you've ever gone that fast in one and had the wind catch UNDER the vehicle and make the steering LIGHT - you'll appreciate the limit. Holy cow, I've had my SX4 maxed on the speedo and that thing is a CAR and it's spooky. You are shoving a brick through the air and letting a bazillion cubic feet of air go under it at that speed - it's not an airplane.
on the other hand - just try to catch one OFF-road. Good luck with that. Not too many people with 140 mph cars can catch one of these if the driver takes to the fields and hills. If they do - which one would be in better shape on the other side?
I salvaged a 4.0 out of a jeep that missed a T and flipped end for end and landed on the roof. And the roof was still where it belonged. The windshield was only cracked up a bit. Try that in your precious Camaro or Mustang and live to tell about it.

So, nobody knows how to remove the 97mph limit?

Can you imagine what a nightmare it would be to drive a Gladiator with a big V-8 and a bunch of horsepower fast? Talk about puckering up!
I added a V8 to mine. The 392 (6.4L) was fun to drive but it lacked something. The Hellcat (6.2L) with 707hp sounded like more fun. So of course I put the Demon (840hp) in my JT. After deleting the 97mph limit on the ECU it now goes about 135 on 40" tires. No wobble, no steering issues whatsoever.
I live in Texas so yeah, I drive over 100 every single day. The speed limit is 85 but nobody (I mean nobody) cares. When you have a 6 lane road with no traffic then why not?
I am used to 200mph because I race Superbike, the pucker factor has little to do with speed, it has to do with the situation.
My only regret? I wish I had bought the Hellephant (7.0L, 1,000hp)

Hmm. I was only about 5mph shy of that, uphill, with a RTT, winch, & lights punching a huge hole in the air.
