Yup. Scraped knuckles and wrists(?) as well as the tops of several of my fingers trying to finagle the SGW plugs out of their OEM homes so that I could plug them into the Tazer. I hadn't intended on it, but the Tazer is now staying plugged in.

You’ll build a muscle memory for it if you do it enough, not the hardest thing to do.

Not fun. I went with the extension harness on the JT after fighting the one in my JL.

Not the easiest thing to do. I got big mitts too. I went with the extension cable too. To install the extension cable. I taped the ends to pieces of coat hanger to guide the ends into the slots.

I will be opening up part of my dash to install Lasfit Aux switches. Will that make access for the Tazer any easier?
Thank you,

Depends on the JT - some appear to be harder than others.
Extension cables are the answer. Piece of cake. Install once and done. Can swap out tazer or bypass cable in seconds not even reaching up behind the panel.
A couple of years ago several of us compared notes and it appeared that for some reason, the Overland was a tighter fit up there.

Similar - 1/4" dowel instead of hanger wire.

Tried the long pliers bit - by the time you actually got far enough to depress the tab, you weren't gripping the connector enough to get it out - it was a really tight fit even once the tab was depressed it was a tight fit in the connector. It's one reason I put dielectric up there, but that didn't do a lot so I got the extensions.

Totally depends on truck, age and hands. First 2 or 3 times I was mad enough to cut a hole in the dash. Yeah, it's that bad for some, and with some of these trucks.
Incidentally, found out the wiring under there is different between 2020 and 2022 - the brake controller install was quite different on the 22 compared to the 20 due to how the factory harnesses ran. Apparently there's some leeway in the installation instructions for the factory workers on some of those parts. If it clicks, it fits, or something like that.

I learned from reading the forums. My first time was to install the extension cable. It was difficult, and I scraped up my hands doing it. Now, access is easy and simple. I have a 2020 Overland, and larger hands. I thought the extension cable was overpriced when I ordered it, but it is worth the $30.

If you’re swapping out front speaker pods - the SGW module is screwed into the back of the front left. Might as well take the time to relocate the thing, both to make it easier to get to, and make getting the speaker pod back in easier. The SGW module tends to hang up on a crossbar when reinstalling

I'm so biting my tongue right now...
I couldn't help it because of the Bud Light can. But that was the only meme I could find to fit.

Just wait till you go to the dealer and want to plug those cables back in. I also got the extension just for that reason.

I must just be trained or numb to it from years of installing car stereos commercially. I had it in my head that getting to these connections was going to be absolute hell and I'd be fighting this horrendous battle in the Florida heat.

I put my hand right up there and grabbed them no problem, and have done it blind 2 or 3 times now. Psych myself out for nothing
