It's more complicated than that. I don't think anyone knows whether you can just supply power and ground via the dock connector, which does much more.
I don't think so. I have the wiring harness. It's only 4 wires. I'm pretty sure it 1) power 2) Negative 3) Speaker + 4) Speaker Negative.

All I should have to do is bring ignition power and a ground to the unit from the dash and should be good to go, but I'm here to learn.

Does anyone know of the wiring for the bluetooth cradle? I removed it from my JT to put it into my JTR ,but did not check the outputs prior to removal. Would love to just know the power and ground wires for the bluetooth speaker.
I was able to get the dealer to open the wiring diagram for me. I'm posting the answer to my question so if someone does this in the future, they have the answer.

Pink wire with yellow stripe is hot
Black with yellow stripe is negative.

I wired it all up and it's working as desired. It's a pretty easy install.

can you make a full list of parts and instructions for how you did this looking at adding BT speaker to my overland JT with the 8.4 nav display/alpine audio group

I don't have the list, but I can tell you what you need.

1) Bluetooth Speaker (dealer item)
2) Trim piece (dock) that houses the Bluetooth speaker (dealer item)
3) Wiring connector to the trim piece/dock. (dealer item)
4) I purchased a prefab inline connector for power. https://www.quadratec.com/p/quadratec/12-volt-power-adapter-jeep-wrangler-jl

You need to remove the center trim pieces around the radio ( youtube) to get to the 12 volt plug. Connect the harness and now you can route power and ground to the dock behind the seat.
Remove the factory tray. It has 2 screws and 2 clips. With your new power and ground, wire the tray/dock:

Pink wire with yellow stripe is hot
Black with yellow stripe is negative.

Slide the new dock in and place the 2 screws in it. Slide in the Bluetooth speaker and you are done.

Note some others have said you can wire it to the factory system for sound, I chose not to do this as I only wanted it for a charging station.

Hope this helps.

Here are the instructions on the power source for the dock from Quadratec.

https://www.quadratec.com/sites/def...p-Wrangler-JL-Installation-Instructions_0.pdf

As far as removing the trim piece to install the trim piece/dock, you just remove the 2 screws and pull it forward towards the front of the jeep. It will pop out.

How do you run it to the speaker dock then for power?
Just run a power and a ground from this adapter under the passenger carpet, down the passenger door jams and finally under the rear seat carpet to the dock.

how big of a project was it? Was it complicated? Do you have the alpine stereo and 8.4 radio because I thought with that the electrical connection for power and the connection to the stereo was there already.

30 minutes to insert the adapter and runs the wires. 10 minutes to install the dock, connector and speaker. I have the 8.4 and Alpine. If you didn't order the bluetooth speaker, the wire is not there.

okay. besides taking out the radio did you have to tear apart your jt to run the wires to the dock? and can you still use the 12v for charging with USB adapter and so on?

You don't have to remove the radio, you just have to get behind the dash by the radio. Everything still works fine, it's just a splice connection.

ah okay I have the dock and speaker coming from the seller in a few days I'll have to install it when I get it. Just trying to make sure I do everything right so I don't screw up the electrical.

Can you send me the link for the wiring harness or is that already on the JT?

Just starting with this process. Wondering if you happen to know the part number for 3) Wiring connector to the trim piece/dock. (dealer item).
Thanks
