Scenario: Android Auto (Pixel 9 with latest OS) contacted to Uconnect on a 2022 JT Sport. Every time the phone rings, the ring volume is terrifyingly loud. The only way I've found to lower the volume is to reduce the volume after it starts ringing. Adjustments on the phone for ring volume does nothing - only lowering the volume after it starts ringing lowers the blast.

Is there a way to preset the ring volume to anything other that the default 'max' level?

Have you checked inside the Android Auto app for Ring Volume settings? There are some adjustments available there.

I have the Ring Volume setting on the phone as high as it will go. When I plug the phone in to the truck, the Ring Volume is at a reasonable level.

I looked, but found no volume level setting. (The only audio setting I see is the auto-play media.) Is this in your settings? If so, where?

I'm running Android Auto beta, I can submit a request on this. My wife has regular AA, and yes the ring volume is annoyingly loud, but whatever my phone ringtone is, rings through on mine as the actual ringtone.

I would appreciate the feature request.

So I'm curious, is the loud ringer thing just me, or are others bothered by the unnecessarily loud sound? Is there a way to silence it if not quiet it down?

I wonder if it's dependent on the phone. I have a Samsung phone connected with a USB cable. I don't remember ever changing the volume on the head unit, but it is at a reasonable level. The ring volume on the phone is set as high as it will go. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Bells ringtone. I looked at Android Auto, but didn't see any ring settings. I'll have to check it with the phone connected to the head unit and see if there are any settings that show up.

Typically, you adjust the volume of the phone ringer when it's ringing. The headunit has separate volumes for the radio and for the AA connection, and the volume knob controls whichever is active.

So yes, the way I've always known to do this is to adjust the volume while it's ringing as that is the active source at the time.
