Thanks for all the advice. I ended up going with Moto Metal M0970 wheels with Versatyre 36x12.5r17 tires. Turned out pretty good. No rubbing at any point.
First time posting on here, but have been lurking and observing for a while. Stock rubicon with stock.wheels and 285/70 tires.

Plan on ordering the ION series 69 wheels and running 35x12.5 17 tires.
These wheels have a -6 offset compared to the normal 35 to 39 on a stock wheel.

This will move the tires about 2.5 inches outside the fender.

Is this to much positive scrub radius?
What issues am I expected to have?
What offset should I run?

Thanks for the help. If anyone is running this setup pictures would help.

I went with 9 inch with 0 offset from Battleborn since the Rubicon has the wider axles and I only plan on 35’s as the largest I plan to run, I don’t the negative offset This will also help save my ball joints and steering. Haven’t mounted yet still waiting for lug nuts and my selected tires to go on sale

People Work?
Stock is +44 on 7.5"
Subtract 19 mm for 9 inch wide and you're at +25 to stay even.
Don't do dumb things for pretty things.

stock rubi wheels should be +44, Mojave wheels are +30 sumthin. I'd max do 0 offset. My current setup is 37s and +21 offset. You can check fitment on my showcase.

I think a lot has to do with the width of the rim also. Factory backspacing is I believe 6 inches and a 9 inch rim with 0 offset has a 5 inch offset moving the tire away from the inner fender just a little for clearance.

yeah backspacing is a game i always find confusing. I just go with offset cus its easier to me figure where the inner edge of the tire will track. which is all I really look for. The goal in my book is trying to keep inner edge of the wheel as far in or out as needed to keep the stock scrub radius with whatever size tire your mounting. 9in is wide AF for an offroad application and tbh introduces to much wheel to work around. 7.5-8.5 is my sweet spot range. I don't think i'll ever run any tire wider than 12.5 because of that as well. Then again this is all subjective to the tastes and requirements iof the end user. In OP's case, my minds eye says his scrub radius will fine but not great. assuming OE is 0, he'll add about 34mm of scrub and idk what the safe range is.

edit: stock scrub should be about 38mm. so 34mm with the 17x9s should be fine to the point of being unnoticeable to most people.

I'm in a similar boat. I just picked up some 35x12.50x17 KO2's yesterday and ordered some 17x8.5 -10 offset, 4.36" backspacing wheels that should be here on Thursday. I'm planning to have everything installed on Friday so I should be able to post pics then. I'm a Willys with no lift currently.

Now I run (until my new 37" come in) -
17x8,
ET30
35x12.50R17
These replaced the -
17x9.5,
ET-18
that stuck out to far. Once I changed them the truck handled better. I am not a fan of Poke, but everyone has there own preference...
