Yep and I had an epiphany the other night.

The Ram is rated 480 lb/ft. The Jeep is rated 442 lb/ft. That's a 38 lb/ft difference, right?

The AFE intake on the dyno showed a 39 lb/ft gain on the Jeep. The difference in the Jeep and Ram is that the air box and intake tube are different and it appears that the Jeep factory intake restriction may be the reason our engines were rated lower.

So I'm thinking that after the AFE intake installation, that'll bring the Jeep engine right up to where the Ram is from the factory. Notice also that GDE makes no distinction between brands with their tune. So I'm guessing the factory tunes are the same, and the intake is the only bottleneck.

AFE intake is now scheduled for delivery around Thanksgiving. Who knows, they'll probably say Christmas at that point. It's so frustrating..........

Comment about an intake and exhaust not helping a turbo diesel is way off base.I have had many turbo diesel w two in the lot now. Opening up the intake lets it breath, cooler IATs, better spool up. Exhaust same deal. Better spooling, heat disappation. The difference between a stock intake and choked down exhaust vrs open intake and straight pipe is nite and day

I heard the stock intake tubing is quite restrictive on the inside with the baffling. From the outside it looks huge (4” or so) but it would interesting to see an actual photo of one. Maybe one day I will take mine apart and snap some pictures. One who knows how turbos work, free flowing exhaust can be the best way to increase performance (which is difficult in our situation) but intake is the next best thing. Get that turbo moving! Tune for me us out of the question as even with the Banks Derringer the torque values can be detected by OEM service shops, the techs know what to look nowadays. But to fall back on the AFE intake, 39lbft is no slouch and crazy even if they did muck up the dyno?

The Ram has 38 more ft/lbs peak torque, the intake give maybe 15 ft/lbs more peak torque not 39 and maybe 7hp peak not 15hp. Now the 15ft/lbs of torque and 7hp increase are good numbers for an intake so I don't know why they have to mess around listing max gain numbers.

Just an interesting dyno graph by AFE. Those are big torque numbers to post online for everyone to see! Maybe some on that particular dyno day caused the ecodiesel to pull a bit more power? Who knows?

I will be pulling my 28' Airstream up the Camp Verde grade tomorrow, with my own set of mods - see the EcoDiesel power derating thread for further.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have already ordered their BladeRunner 3 inch aluminum H/C charge pipe kit. Would love your thoughts on which to go with either 50-70062T or 52-10005R?

Again, thank you for your time.
Did this work on your turbo and how load was it
