It's like the 3.6 I'd bet - a small opening between two of the grill slots and it goes up into the bottom of the air box - you'd really have to hit that just wrong to drive water into it. And it's another reason to keep up speed when going through water to push the water away from the front of the Jeep and not up against that part of the grill.There is an inlet to the air box just behind the grill. Hit the puddle just right. It will soak the air filter.
There was one guy last winter who had snow in his air box. I'm at work, so I don't have time to find the thread.
