So a week or two ago I loaded my son up to take him to school. Unlocked the doors by placing my hand inside the passenger door handle, opened the passenger rear door, and loaded him in and buckled him up. I proceed to walk over to the driverside, open my door and the alram starts to go off as I sit down. I pull my key out, hit unlock still beeping and flashing, hit lock and then unlock still beeping and flashing, hit the start button and Jeep starts but the alarm is still going off. I turn the truck off and back on, still going off. Im going to be late if I sit there and fiddle with it or try to switch him into the Taco and his carseat so I say F it and start driving and about 30 seconds into driving the alarm stops. Well I figured it was some weird one time glitch, then this morning I get to his school(daycare) and drop him off, come back out to the truck and repeat the alarm going off situation again. Im not going to just keep sitting in front of his school with parents pulling up and getting out and going in etc so I just back up and begin to leave and about 60 seconds into driving the alarm stops.

Has anyone else ever heard of this happening on a Gladiator or Wrangler? I searched this forum for titles with Alarm issues and didnt see anything related to this.

I cant be the only one. Not to mention I'm sure the dealership is going to want to replicate the issue and with two random events I'm not sure that can be done nor do I want to leave the truck there for an undetermined amount of time for them to figure it out.

I had my alarm (stock) go off on me once similar to what you described. I unlocked and was standing there talking to a coworker and it started going off. Nothing I did would silence it. After a minute or so it eventually shut off. It hasn't happened again thankfully. I initially though it was a low voltage battery situation but my battery checked out.

I'm hoping it doesn't happen again. It was only that one time and it was 6 months ago at this point without a recurrence. Good luck and you will probably want to start looping in your dealer if it's happened twice in a short period of time.

Try changing the FOB Battery.

Unlock the doors before opening them.

This happened to me with my Navigator after I accidentally left my key fob in my pants and washed them. If you have another key fob, use that until you dis-assemble your key fob, let it dry then replace the battery.

If it’s a factory installed security system they should be able to connect a factory scan tool to the vehicle and pull up a trigger event history which will allow them to determine which part of the system is malfunctioning causing this to occur. Thus they should not need to keep your truck for an extended period of time. We could do this on the car line I worked on since around the 2010-2011 time era so I assume even if Jeep was behind they should be capable of performing this by now. Unfortunately not much the DIY owners can do without any high dollar scan tool and I can’t even be sure anything other than a factory scan tool would be capable to pull this information.

Yeah, you can even see such events with JSCAN.
It will tell you how the factory alarm was last armed, disarmed, triggered and so on.

Took the truck in for service yesterday(oil change and replace a blown speaker) and told them about the random alarm sounding issue that has now occurred half a dozen times now and they claimed to not be able to log in the see alarm history etc. They made a note of it so that its documented but thats about it.

In my experience when you have a few easy items on the punch list along with one or two issues that require diagnostic time you have a much harder time getting the issues that require thought done. I resort now to bringing a vehicle in and just listing that one item so they focus on it. It isn't a guarantee they won't just punt and give it back with a "cannot duplicate" response but it seems like I've had better resolutions this way.

Also, I've had two occasions now myself where the alarm has gone off on me and nothing I do will silence it. I just have to wait till it times out. At some point I'll bring it in and have the dealer look at it.

Last weekend my alarm went off at night, doors locked. My key was not in my pocket (the usual cause). This happened twice, and each time it silenced itself after about 30 seconds. I used the fob to unlock and relock the vehicle, and no more incidents. Another Stellantis electronic mystery!

Maybe related, maybe not but I had something similar happen to a car I used to own. I was driving along and the alarm started going off. Turns out I had put a cup of coffee in a Styrofoam cup in my cup holder and there was a screw sitting upside down in the cup that had allowed the coffee to slowly get under the cup holder and soak a component of my alarm system. Could it be something to that effect? Not necessarily coffee but something having gotten wet in that system?
