Is the Alpine Premium Audio worth the upgrade cost?
Sponsored
That's what I'm working on doing - swapping out the smaller speakers to help highs. Mine sounds a bit "muddy" - even with the bass dropped way down in the EQ it's still muddy sounding to me. I've lost the highs in my hearing - and I love CRISP clean bass. This is not that.I have the Alpine Premium with the smaller screen. The stock sound is ok, not great but ok. The JT is a difficult vehicle for sound and I think it would cost at least what the Alpine runs for a custom install and unless you can hear one already done, you won't have a clue how it will sound until its done. I think the Alpine is an ok starting point and you can upgrade the smaller speakers for low cost and it gets a little better.
Like almost all vehicle sound systems, it is the audio manufacturers that are doing these systems - Alpine in this case, Bose in some cases, you name it. Even my laptop has Bang & Olufsen-All that said, these auto manufacturers are rarely (if ever) going to out-do an audio manufacturer in this game.
I have to turn mine up to at least 22 or 23 to be able to hear the words to any song with the roof off. Thanks to the Army I have about %10-20 hearing in my right ear. So im by no means an audio aficionado. But i can absolutely tell a NOTICEABLE improvement over the stock system in my 2013 JKU. Enough that i have no intention of upgrading over the alpine setup at all. I can hear satellite radio clear, and both Bluetooth and apple car play are clear as heck when listening or on the phone. Apple car play is better than straight Bluetooth, but both are great. What really surprised me was that, despite hearing loss…i can hear the radio with the doors off without turning it all the way up.
its a factory upgrade that is a covered wattanty item that is a great improvement over stock. Worth every penny IMO, even with the 7in radio (which i have
Im at 18-20 on the highway baseline…i really need to get on the VA about a hearing aid lolI have to turn mine up to at least 22 or 23 to be able to hear the words to any song with the roof off.
I normally run half that, maybe 12-14 much of the time with doors on and things closed up.
No doubt it is. And its their bottom of the barrel (or close) product they're putting into vehicles in order to get their name out, most often. I've got a JBL home theater audio setup, but by no means do I have their top tier package. Still, sounds pretty good.Like almost all vehicle sound systems, it is the audio manufacturers that are doing these systems - Alpine in this case, Bose in some cases, you name it. I've not seem auto makers do their own audio in a long time.
My Silverado sound was fantastic, crisp clean bass beats the JT bass.
