Yes, Alpine, We're "Jeep people" and yes we do spend STUPID amounts of money on our Jeeps. But $2400 for a f*cking radio? That's just abusive.

For what it's worth, I have the 7" version of this kit, which was $1k less. I simply wanted an upgrade from the 5" stock unit for on screen navigation, that didnt mess with any factory controls or backup cam etc. I wasnt interested in the larger screens and wanted something more subtle. The kit has all the modules, wiring harness etc to integrate with your rig. Also came with a new media hub with hdmi. It's a complete solution that retains all the factory functions and then some. It was easy to install and everything works. I was willing to pay a premium for that, even if the deck itself isnt cutting edge.

The only issue with the Inasne radio is no plug for the XM module. Also the logo is ugly.

I wouldn't miss the XM at all. I am intrigued by them saying that you can record from the cameras to the SD card. Not sure if that's just their camera or if it would capture from my OEM trail cam.

The new version is i509-wra-JL. A previous comment said it was out since 2019 but that was the previous 409 version. This one has wireless android auto/carplay. I have the 7in and am slightly irritated that carplay doesn't use the full screen, although it wouldn't contribute to much more. $2400 is slightly outrageous for the price but if I had money to throw away, I would buy it. I think it looks pretty sweet with the faceplate.

IMO, I wouldn't buy this if my jeep had the 8.4" headunit but I may consider it down the road.

I'm debating on getting this one later on this year and I think I'm just going to put black electrical tape over the logo. It looks like some sort of early 2000s album font from a guy who handed you his cd on the street for free.

I think the trim is hideous! Also, it screams "please break out my window and destroy my dash"!
I love good sound, but I have zero use for showy.

I'd imagine that's the main reason but the other is that it's the only Alpine with Maestro integration that is shallow-depth mounting to fit in the dash. The older unit like it is a great little head unit but the lack of integration kills it for a lot of people.

Less conspicuous, mostly. I've bought lots of Alpine stuff over the years and generally had good luck with it, frankly I have no idea who the other guys are.
