Maybe buy two, use one in the winter!

I think I’d buy a 4dr wrangler for my second. That way I could buy an older used one like 2011-2016 for good price wise!

My SX4 had been sitting in a grassy field for about 10 years by the time I got it and had it trucked to Iowa.
That stuff is easier to deal with than the structure of a unibody car.

When we move back to Az I’ve thought of getting a wrap just to somewhat detour sun damage but gotta figure out dash and such too

Been there. Weather is varied, from what I see, with a lot of the state getting 5 times the snow we do here. It's a different snow and situation, but it's pretty hard to generalize, IMO, about NV weather.
Years ago I recall visiting some friends who were getting married, Lake Havasu City, the London Bridge, the McCullough estate, going on to Vegas, driving around that area - granted, that was pretty localized for the most part, but what I saw was desert, and then mountains where it's gonna snow (and winter rains, I suspect.)
some states like that are rather varied, from what little I know, desert to mountains, heat to "get your food and water stashes ready and have plenty of firewood for the next couple of months" type situations.
My guess is the brunt of the snow is in peak winter months...... (D-F perhaps??)

Yeah, that's just two recliners lol. Worked out fine though. It does what I need it to do. I had an f150 with an extended (not crew) cab and a 6 ft bed, but it was way overkill for what I used it for and it was a pain in smaller parking lots. This mid size is "just right" for me.

Grand Cherokees turn on a dime.
This jt turns on a dime and gives me change, compared to my F250 or Silverado 1500 extended cab 4x4 truck. I had to take two aims at many shopping center parking spots with the Chevy and sometimes I had to give up and find a larger spot - just couldn't make the turns and getting back out was hairy. This thing I can park almost anywhere compared to that beast.
The best turning and parking experience for a Jeep was a Liberty we had for a while. I compared that to my SX4 and found them to be about the same length, and similar turning radius.

The amount of brine and salt they use in mn,wi you wouldn't believe it till you see it.

I thought the brine was better for cars than salt….is that bogus? They just started to use brine here last year. I thought I liked it because there’s no rock salt bouncing up damaging paint or windshields…..now you git me wondering.

I bought a Jeep just for the opportunity to drive around in the snow or to drive up a offroad trail that I normally would not have in other vehicles. I don't keep anything long and realiable vehicles seem o be a myth so I use what I have but also keep them clean most of the time.

I would not have a Jeep if I never needed it. I would be driving a muscle car of some kind like the Challenger Hellcat I traded for the JTR

The "brine" is a salt solution. Regardless of it being calcium chloride (CaCl) or sodium chloride (NaCl), it's still a salt.
While CaCl is safer for the concrete and environment and melts ice up to 3 times faster than "road salt", many say it's harder on our vehicle and actually accelerates rust.

Anyone noticed that the ""ice melt" you buy is wet, slimy feeling, and actually if left open, will get watery?
This is a quote from a mass transit site that explains why -
To complicate the situation further, if the road salts are not removed from the vehicle, MgCl2 and CaCl2 will pull moisture out of the atmosphere, rewet and continue their corrosive actions.

And THIS is why you do not wait to wash it off - it may seem like hey it's dry so it can't cause corrosion................
it will actually draw water from the air and get wet and cause corrosion.

it's nasty stuff that is self-wetting and gets "sticky" on roads, adhering to any sand or dirt and making it even worse yet on your vehicle.

Sure, CaCl is cheaper, works at colder temperatures, and if used properly is safer for concrete and the environment, it's it's worse on your vehicle.
You can leave NaCl open on the table and it stays dry, but CaCl will get wet and slimy if left open, and it will do the same in your frame.

Road salt corrosion is not limited to the bus exterior. During the winter months, passenger shoes bring the road salt into the bus. Frozen slush on boots often melts during the ride and the deicer in fluid form is able to seep into the smallest cracks and crevices. The result is fastener and flooring corrosion from the inside of the vehicle, as well as accelerated wear on floor runners and interior fabrics.


Gee, I wonder - whatever could they be talking about?? (this will rust or corrode your floor, dead pedal, whatever - I pull the plug and take a bucket of boiling hot water out now and then to get this crap out)
We didn't see this with "road salt" years ago - my floors didn't rot away back then.
