I've casually been researching the feasibility of retrofitting the 2024 dash but haven't had the time to pull everything together. The primary purpose is the new head unit; I don't particularly like that the head unit runs the Uconnect OS. I'd much rather have Android, where I can use apps natively without a magic box (android plugin).

I am running the Stinger HU with a magic box for Android and 4G internet. Unfortunately, the system doesn't allow for multitouch, which is a PIA in map apps.

I found this head unit, which appears to be a knockoff of the 2024 style dash, but it runs Android. I am curious if anyone has experience with this unit. It's a Chinese unit, probably similar to the Carobotor complete digital dash. I have had hit-and-miss success with these Chinese units in the past... I don't mind being a guinea pig, but I figured I would ask to ensure I don't repeat a learning lesson already learned by someone else.

P.s. I don't like the instrument trim that comes with the head unit, if I purchase the head unit I will probably customize the setup to use my factory instrument trim

Just a general word of caution on the Chinesium Android setups:

They're not all the same and they aren't that great as is. I have an Eonon in my e46 and it's hit or miss if it operates properly, and that was the best rated of all e46 replacements.

Your head unit is tied into a lot more than just providing audio. Think carefully about replacing it with something that looks cool but isn't from a reputable aftermarket company like Alpine, Sony, etc. Replacing the dash cluster is just plain foolish.

I would want to know the build and MCU on the unit. This will tell you what hardware is used. If you can get that info, I can help you research it. The main system is what matters most.

Blocks the vents
The device I shared has vents below the screen, it redirects the driver right factory vent. It does partially block the passenger's left-hand vent.

One vent appears 50% blocked, the other vet you reference, is it 100% of factory airflow?

I received the device and I have some integration work to do. The Android experience is superior to my Stinger+ Magicbox(Android piggyback). The backup camera is not yet working, and I lost the factory selection menu (Aux switch controls and other settings). The HVAC UI works great.

The first photo is just intended to show the installed unit layout. I like the aspect ratio and placement, I am a big fan of the configuration and would love to have a 2024 setup.

@billfraley, I included a screenshot of the MCU and such below.

Nice. That’s is TS10 which is supported by modifications. Not sure with a wide aspect if it would require different firmware. Here is a discord server for some good apps and firmware links for TS devices:
