I know it has been said may times, but it bears repeating. I purchased a Sting Gray Rubicon off the lot last Saturday from Tri-City in Eden, NC. I was planning to order a Gator JT, but changed my mind when I saw one in person. I liked it, but not as much as the Gray, in person. I had been creeping on Tri-city's website for awhile and saw the Gray one for several weeks. It has everything except the trail cam and block heater, I think. Communication with Travis on line was simple and I received an estimated trade in value sight unseen. There was some back and forth about the final trade in value, but this was by far the most straight forward and honest vehicle purchase in my 58 yrs. I was totally transparent about my trade in and they met my number. I have not been able to find a deal anywhere near their bottom line. Dealers near me do not have any Rubicons and don't seem interested in meeting your needs. While Travis was the decider, I was taken care of by Shareef Walker. He was excellent and upfront. If/when I intend to purchase another Jeep, I will return to Tri-City and ask for Shareef. I work in the Healthcare industry and know the challenge of customer service and satisfaction. They satisfied and I'm not easy to satisfy. This is also the first time I really like the vehicle I was trading in, but have dreamed about a jeep truck since the concept was unveiled over 10 years ago.

I concur. While I have not taken delivery yet....thus far my buying/ordering experience with Travis and Tri-City has been the best by far of any car buying experience in my life.

Overall, I consider myself extremely happy with my JT and happy with the overall purchasing of my JT from Tri-City. Here are three things to check before you get there:

  1. They gave me the low end on my trade (based on the range provided in email) and I did not know until I was signing the papers - at that point I just wanted to take my JT home. Disappointed because the sales guy that looked over my GC told me what great shape it was in, so much so he expected it to be on the lot (not whole sale). Oh well. I kind of expected that.
  2. There is a $287 transfer fee that I missed they marked TBD on my sales sheet. The email said no gimmicks, pay tax and dealer fee - that's it. Again, not missing a deal over $287.
  3. I was not going to finance, but ran the numbers to show with the extra $550 off (1% off Invoice for Financing), I'd make a couple hundred bucks. I hate leaving money on the table that I could use for other Jeep parts. My intent was to pay off in three months. They asked that I wait three months so the bank does not ask for their fee back from Tri-City. No problem, it get it, so I used that in my analysis. However the finance guy informs me during the signing of the paper that I have to keep loan for 4-months. Not a big deal - cost me another $68, so overall I still save a few dollars, but really ticked off my wife when he said that to us. I could hose them by paying off next month, but I won't do that - I made a promise. Everything else they did was fair.
Overall, Tri-City saved me a couple thousand $$ by going so far below invoice. No one in the Charlotte area was even willing to discuss it. So a little hassle and maybe not everything was 100% perfect - but keeping my eyes on the prize and the total savings, I am happy with my purchase.

They appear to run a low overhead operation. I appreciate that - I want a knowledgeable staff and a good price vs a hot cappuccino. The sales guy that I worked with on the day of pick up was Shareef Walker. Very nice guy and really knowledgeable.

Overall - I would absolutely buy from Tri-City again.

They did initially offer me the lowest on the range for my trade in, but quickly raised it when we talked. I was painfully honest with every little issue with my trade in, which may have given a bad impression. My trade in did have more than normal miles, so I was happy with the final offer. For a dealer off the beaten path to move so many in demand jeeps, they have to be doing something right. I drove nearly 3 hours on way and do not regret it. Dealers around me are sleazy and are out to take advantage. I know this is an unfair generalization, but except for a Subaru dealer, has been my experience over the last 40 years. A+ for Tri-city.
