Ok, looks like:
2”x2”x1/4” square tubing: main connection to receiver hitch
21/2”x21/2” sq tubing: main carry punched cut both sides and through welded.
appears to be at least a 1” dia. pivot bolt with a castle nut.
2”x2”x1/4” sq tubing pivot frame, reinforced corners
2”x6”x1/4” channel, reinforced connector points

my bet is it weights +200lbs with no bikes

all needed - carrying two bikes. (Especially the way I drive)

I know that rock very well in your first pic. In fact, its signature was left on the bottom of one of my skid plates. LOL! I watched a JK bash his front diff open there and a JT with a Rancho glide plate slide right over it like a breeze. My JL made it with the help of good spotters and great articulation. But I went home and put a Rancho slider on my JL right afterward.

Been there too! But no way I'd be brave enough to do that with the shorter wheelbase of the JL. Maybe next time with the JT. Nothing climbs quite like these Gladiators!

I need to go find that spot again. There are some great trails there.

My JT is all stock on the skids except for a hitch skid and a FAD skid. The JL has the FAD skid and front Rancho differential slider and rear ARB diff cover. I'm putting a front and rear Dana/Spicer diff covers on the JT and that's it for skids. I've found the factory skids on the JL to be pretty much exactly where they need to be. Like you said, it can get noisy, but they sure hold up. The JL has been everywhere, including Moab 3 times.

Still around. Purchased 08/2019. 83,000 miles of fun offroad, daily driver, and hauling firewood. Original batteries, brakes, and rear shocks (getting bouncy)

Still here. Purchased on 6/20/20:

Only 37K miles on it, but then I have other workhorses in the stable:

Haven't had any dealer repair work needed; but have created my own issues that I have dealt with...lol.

113k on the clock had a transmission leak about two weeks after buying it and had to replace the battery at about 75k
