I am planning on keeping my RTT low to the bed but would like to have an awning mounted from the windshield area to the front of the bed.
Anyone done this yet?

Looks like I’ll have to wait on this to be released

Did you get the shorter one ? If so, any vibration issues? Do the panels come out?

Thanks!

Made a riser for my 270 awning to fix the same issue when running the low rack with tent. Just barely clears the doors when I move it forward but it works.

If you don’t want to wait for the Garvin rack or if the DeeZee isn’t what you need, Maximus-3 has released their roof rack:https://maximus-3.com/jtgladiator-/maximus-3-jt-roof-rack-system

It uses a 52x56” RhinoRack Platform, so any RhinoRack awning attachment will work.

Or, RhinoRack has recently released their own roof rack for the Gladiator: https://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/pro...ck-backbone-and-rcl-legs-unassembled_jc-00288

Both systems require drilling your top, however so be prepared for that. But I’d rather do that than trust the drip rails to secure whatever load I put up there.

I did get the shorter one. I have no vibration issues and freedom panels can still be removed.

Mounted mine to a Dee Zee roof rack.
Hi, just saw your Dee zee rack that was used to mount an awning. I was planning the same route. Is the clamps to the gutter protected by rubbers that would not scratch or mark the freedom top gutters? And did you mount the rack on the rear passenger (can't tell on your pics if its rear only and not in the middle) or can you mount it in the middle of the freedom top to to balance the position mount in the awning? Thanks

The rack did not have rubber protectors for the gutters but i am sure something could be easily added. The rack is only mounted to the rear section of the top allowing the freedom panels to be removed. There is a version that has another cross bar that mounts to the freedom panels.

I ended up with a Thule cross bar set up and went with the shorter awning for now. They have the rubber protectors. They have not really scratched the coating but they did lightly "scuff" it. If you look hard you can see it. If it becomes an issue at trade in time I'll just rattle can paint the drip rail.
(not a paint matched top)

I decided to use the Rhino Rack Vortex SG59 due to its aerobar, looks, easy install and rubber protectors on the gutter contact points. Surprisingly no noise even at 80mph with the awning installed.

Love this. This is the model/blueprint I’ve been looking for because the Glady is my daily driver and I wanted to be able to take it on and off, not drive with it all the time. Thanks for sharing!
