Doesn't the OEM rubber intake sit right against the inside of the hood where that vent is cut into the hood though? Seems like a waste to not cut the hood for the new intake, though I guess without anyone providing dyno numbers of each I guess we'll never know the true gains.
It does, but its unclear to me if the available airgap is i sufficient or not. It very well could be, it might not be. I havent looked closely enough at it because i never intended to cut the hood until i put the snorkel in here soon.

Once i get around to digging around in there i might have an opinion, but right now I dont. ??‍♂

Mine does not fit against the hood. I'll try and get a picture. That's where my hood light sits. It looks like the vent would close up most of that gap, once installed.

I just picked up my 2021 Jeep Gladiator that I ordered with the cold air intake. The filter box and tub were installed in the engine compartment. The hood vent was not installed and was not anywhere in the Jeep. Does anyone have a picture of the package or box it come in? The dealership is working on getting the part number on it. So far the only part number is for the complete kit. Maybe it is in the box with the air filter? Hopefully not but that would be funny.

Same thing happened with me.

The dealer ordered the hood vent for me and I picked it up today. I will look at the grill and see what your dealer is talking about. Thanks for posting that.
What's the Part # for it? I need the vent bezel also.

There was not a part number on the box. The dealer did order it for me in February 2021 and I got in a few weeks later. I looks like they are not shipping the hood parts any longer. Did your window sticker say that you would get the hood part? I will have to look but it seams like my sticker did say that and that is why the dealer ordered it for me. Hope it works out for you.

I just looked at my window sticker and it only says "cold air intake system my Mopar" I can't remember where it said the hood part was included, maybe it was in the picture on the website when building the Jeep.

My window sticker said factory installed but it was not on the Jeep anywhere. Regular factory intake (we checked 5 other Gladiators on the lot that did not show it on the sticker) but the money was charged in the price. I brought it to their attention and forced them to get it and install it. They were too chicken to cut the hood and farmed it out to a local body shop. That body shop did everything right except install the outer grill correctly. They just stuck it to the hood with the double sided tape. I guess they cut off the little studs that are supposed to stick through the hood and have the little nuts on the inside. I would be willing to purchase an outer grill that some of you did not install since no parts breakdown is available.

Any takers?

Just bumping this back up.

I'm still in need of that outer grill.

If you are talking about the Mopar cold air intake its a different intake tube, different airbox, and you cut a hole in the hood just like for the snorkel but it has a vent cover you put in.

They don't install the vent in the hood at the factory?

In my case they did not do any of it. They also didn't send the CAI in the box in the Jeep for dealer install. I had to call them on it and raise a stink to get it ordered and installed. In the mean time another Jeep just like mine was delivered, I checked the sticker and it was just like mine. Showed a CAI by Mopar for $525 but it wasn't on the Jeep. I pointed it out to the sales staff and they didn't seem to care. My local dealer doesn't have a body shop on site so they had to farm out the install. Turns out that place didn't bother to drill the holes for the outer grill install, they just cut them off and used the double sided tape to stick it on.

... and it also comes with a Mopar high-flow air filter, but I don't believe that they install this filter if ordered from the factory. As far as the air box, it is only the upper half of the box that is different.

Main thing is the intake tube. The new one is just a straight tube with no baffles. The stock factory one has loads of chambers and crap plus I saw a guy on youtube that checked the noise level and the CAI is actually a little quieter.

Truth is I picked one in-transit built by the dealership. I didn't ask for the CAI but they weren't willing to give me the money so I forced them to install the product. If I ordered another one I wouldn't bother with that item. I notice no difference and for all those that say they "hear" it, I can tell no difference.

I think we'd all be extremely surprised at what lengths the engineers go to maximize efficiency out of newer engines. 10+ years ago there may have been some gains to be had with CAI with better intake locations, but our factory JL/JT engines already have a dedicated intake duct in the passenger side grill openings, so I'm not sure even the Mopar CAI does much besides a bit of increased noise. Money can be better spent on other mods IMO, but we each like what we like.

I saw that video as well. It only showed noise level at idle.

It's interesting that you can't tell the difference at all when driving, although I only notice mine at higher throttle inputs. So, I guess if you don't 'get on it' you might not notice it.
