Good thing you're not in Tx. The wife's a DOT inspector and advised me If I did this I wouldn't pass inspection. I actually thought about it though.
Not to worry, Texas is doing away with vehicle inspections next year(?). But they'll still charge you a $7 fee that has a new administrative name. Some cities like Houston will still require emissions tests.

The stock horns are already really LOUD!
Always subjective. I owned a motorcycle with a horn that shook your very soul it was so loud but you could always find someone on a forum complaining it wasn't enough. To each his own!

I put a Dixie (General Lee) horn on my Punk'N. Will add a train horn when onboard air is installed.

I looked at frequency of each horn. On my Toyota I used a pigtail off of Amazon, relay and 4 hella horns (H31000001 (415/350Hz ) and
003399801 (300/500HZ)). I was actually going for a 80's super car sound. I needed the 300HZ to be 380hz. It is extremely loud. On my gladiator I currently used a Y cord and 415/350Hz plus (hella 011225802) : 420/350Hz. The tone is not as annoying but extremely loud.

Bumping this thread.

I disagree with those saying the Gladdy has a loud horn. It's weaksauce for sure.

Looking for recs. Is it worth going up to installing onboard air for a horn? Is a train horn too much? I'm thinking something short of that is fine. What should one reasonably expect to pay for the horn, and for labor to install?

TIA
