Right now I tow a Scamp 16' fiberglass camper with a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. I'm stuck in "D" status waiting for a Sport S with max tow package. I went max tow because I believe in overkill. Not only do you have to consider the additional load of all your gear, fire wood and bikes but you need to be aware of the "parachute" effect when pulling at highway speeds and oncoming wind gales.

I will have to get mirror extensions, I measured the JT mirrors at the dealer and the are less than what I have now on the Tacoma and they barely make it!

I would pay good money for some nice mirrors that would bolt in place of the OEM ones when I need to tow something wide.

I tow a 2020 Jayco Jayfeather 18rbm, it's 23' long and weighs 4400 dry. My loaded towing weight is about 5200 lbs but my payload is very close to 1400 lbs so I am just about maxed out on payload.

My 2023 Max Tow does just fine towing, I'm never in a hurry and tow between 55 and 65 mph. The only time I would like more power is on the 6% and above grades. On my current trip I got 10.3 mpg on the mostly up hill 1/2, still camping and hoping to get 12ish on my way home. No matter what I tow or what I use to tow, I always seem to get between 10-12mpg.

I tow, pic'd below. '20 Overland (ordered 5/19, built 6/19, delivered 7/19).

It's 27' long and weighs around 5,100 lbs, and around 520 lbs tongue weight with every thing in the front pass through, this is with all we want or need loaded in. I get between 12 and 13 MPGs towing. I shift totally manually and pretty much never see 8th. I'm cruising at 65 in 7th at around 2,100RPMs.

I have the BlueOx WDH which really controls sway when being passed by semi's and helps plant the front end. I hitched up the trailer and measured rear droop before and after and, before hooking up the WDH bars, droop was about 1 1/2". After setting the WDH bars, droop was only about 3/4".

I did attach a bolt on receiver on the rear bumper of the trailer for a bike rack so we can take those too. Any extras go in the bed of the truck like lounge chairs and an umbrella for the beach which maybe weigh like 20 lbs. Other than that, it's just me and the Bride and any snacks she wants for noshing on the road.

I would pay good money for some nice mirrors that would bolt in place of the OEM ones when I need to tow something wide.
I bought the mirrors found on Amazon for the JK and then bought the adapters that were offered on here by Thorne Engineering (can be found on E-Bay).

They fit perfectly and do not vibrate at all. My trailer is 7.5' wide and I can easily see down the sides. Not that I change lanes all that much, I'm a right lane warrior when I'm towing but, there's the occasional slower semi I gots to get around, so there's that.

I just purchased those extended view mirrors that are advertised here, Extended View Mirrors on Amazon, for my regular mirrors, and am really impressed as to how much I can see on the sides so, I purchased another pair to put on my tow mirrors. Hopefully they also help tremendously when towing. I'll find out towards the end of this month when the Bride and I go to Williamsburg, VA over my Birthday with the trailer.

Well, looking right now. The wife wants one to go with friends that will work with her Cherokee Elite but I'm like why when we have the Gladiator, but she is "what's hers is hers." So, I saw a Montana guy whose son had a brand I hadn't seen. Oh, my wife's other requirement is a "dry bath." Mine is the ability to go places not just parking lots and have a bit of comfort vs the shortie overlanders both in length and height. I think I found a happy medium. It's a company called Sunset Travel Trailers. https://sunsettrailers.com/sunlite-ltd/

OK, I also have a 500 mile limit on driving to purchase and ran across this one in Orem Utah. I live in Helena MT. https://www.nealsrvcenter.com/2024-sunset-park-sunlite-16bh-sport-Sjhq.html

AND UNDER 20K. That's under 200 a month with a couple K down for 10 years... Some dealers might even go 12 and still be at 200ish with zero down, if they will go.

"2024 Sunset Park SunLite 16BH. Sport Package w/6" Lift with 15" Rough Terrain Tires!
Lightweight - Only weighs 2600 lbs! ROOF SOLAR! Plenty of Room and Lots of Options, Rear and Side Power Awnings, FULL SIZED FRIDGE! Solid Step Entry Steps, Black Tank Flush, Outside Shower, Battery Disconnect, Dual Propane Tanks Interior Options include: 3 Burner Cooktop with Oven, Double Sink, Separate Shower & Toilet, Full Size 13.5 BTU A/C Unit, Furnace, Water Heater, Front Bed with Fold Down Bunk Bed up above..."

What I love is the lifted frame and "off road" tires. I'm sure they just "flipped the axle" having had that done before myself, but that extra six inches is perfect for national forest excursions and even a bit of relatively level off roading at the travel trailer level. It's no fun having your drain lines ripped off.

But the unit I linked also has the dry bath, two propane tanks, two electric shades one over the back door and one over the side. That's a nice touch on rainy mornings. It has a regular three burner stove (vs 2) full microwave and decent sized two way fridge, four stabilizers and that's a neat conversion from storage one bed to a bunk. AND a real 13,500 air conditioner instead of one of those side units that leak inside (Always make sure you are slightly out of level with those so they drain outside).

I'm pretty impressed for the price in particular. AND...at the price of most overlander shorties with an outside kitchen. Sure, it won't go where they go, but having done it all in my long life, what you want and what you end up using and "needing" are seldom the same. I could still do a Magruder trail run and camp over by Cooke City Montana since I would have hard side. After grizzlies killed a few people in national forest campgrounds here some years ago, they don't allow soft camping of any sort. Hardside or go elsewhere. So, in Montana, a hard side increases your safety and this small size and amenities makes for a comfortable stay...relatively speaking.

So, if you are wanting to camp but the wife says I don't think so, I want a shower and toilet a decent cooking and where are the kids going to sleep? And you want to get at it off the dirt roads, well, this may just do the trick AND be fun... That brand has quite a few different versions. AND at 2600 lb's dry, 3600 MAYBE fully loaded, you won't even tax your Gladiator. This one took me a bit by surprise.
