Supporting it is the best way to prop up demagogues, dictators and basically a who’s who’s list for, state sponsors of terror.

Back to being real; the science behind the warming of the planet is the same science that underpins things like flight, propulsion, high rise buildings, bridges and heart surgery. To name but a few. So yeah, I guess if we bank on those things, we should bank on the climate stuff. Politics aside right?

Inside this industry, those who are informed know that the rate of planetary heating is about 3x that of what is predicted. Based on the modelling of those that produce it in the western world.

What else is real? The US innovators and engineers that have done most of the leg work in bringing ev’s to market have had their designs ripped off by, let’s call them a un-named far eastern superpower.

And that lot love reading about how US consumer internal resistance to ev adoption is essentially limiting the role the USA plays in the tech race that is now playing out globally; a transition to sustainable transport and all. That’s exactly what they want. Keeps ol usa out of the tech race.

So yeah, the next time we talk about stuff that’s real and stuff that’s not, try factor in those aspect to the reasoning and decision making.

Here in AU, I believe I have my priorities straight, I’ll happily support any innovative USA made produced Jeep that further my love of the product and is taking part in the most important global tech race of our time.

I think what is being asked is; should people or corporations chose the direction of the tech?

In this case, it’s not really about corporate or consumer choice. It’s more about the fact that there is a major engineering problem that, for humanity’s sake, needs a solution.

In 1856 a female American scientist named Eunice Foote established that excess CO2 in the earth atmosphere will cause planetary warming. Google her.

It’s about solving the problem that little old Eunice identified 170yrs ago. Sometimes we can’t just keep on doing what we want to do. We have to do what we need to do.

And a bonus: you stop facilitating demagogues, dictators / aka the world major sponsors of state sanctioned terror.

To be clear - ICE vehicles are definitely better than EV’s on pure merit. They would be, after 100yrs of development and infrastructure build out, that’s a no brainer.

I used to live on a golf course. Lot’s of ICE mowers and blowers in operation all the time. My next door neighbor was a scratch golfer, riding in a gas powered golf cart, on a course maintained with all that ICE equipment. He was also a car guy with a fleet of old Jags, MGs, Austins. Granted, he didn’t drive those THAT much.

But he was also a PHD scientist for the EPA, as was his wife. He had authored papers on the cause and effect of particulate matter in the atmosphere. We were on friendly terms for the most part because we were next door neighbors, and we were both “car guys”.

But periodically he would get on a political rant about folks that didn’t see things his way. I’d ask him when he was going to get rid of those cars, and give up his golf club membership.

I asked him once, how is it that first it was global cooling, then it was global warming, now it’s climate change. I countered a few of his statements, and he would get mad and storm off (he was 80 and somewhat testy).

The climate has been changing for all of recorded history, long before humans generated the things we generate now. Whenever scientists can finally agree on what is actually happening, I might listen.
