Audio system upgrades

I decided to upgrade entire audio system because it’s hard to hear when the top is off with factory system. It’s a 2022 Rubicon.

I added some skar 3.5 horn tweeters in the dash that I got for like $25 for the pair. Definitely a big upgrade but not sure if I’ll keep them long term. They are 500 watt max and 300 rms.

I also installed the 6.5” metra pod for knee panel speakers. I used stuck sound deadening material all inside and some polyfil. I used the 6.5” DS18-500 watt max, 250 rms. They have a red led in middle of cone. You can use a bt controller but I just wired the red color into the aux switch.

I bought an empty American Soundbar with the led speaker rings. Not to hard to install but didn’t realize you needed to cut trim pieces on both sides above windows. Found a YouTube video of it and took a few times of cutting and reinstalling since video wasn’t to specific. Was annoying more than anything else.

I then installed 4-3.5” kicker speakers 80 watt max, 30 watt rms into the soundbar. I hooked up the four factory soundbar speaker wires to these.

I installed 4-8” Rockford Fosgate color optix, 250 rms and 1000 watt max into soundbar. Had to order bt led controller for the speakers since they have led lights in cones.

I installed a 1000 watt 4 channel Rockford Fosgate amp the outputs 250 watt rms to every channel. I put it under drivers seat and added a 2 spacers on rear of amp to sit above air vent.

I’m now just waiting for my pac amp pro to arrive to hookup the rca wires I already ran.

I ran the LED speaker rings, LEDs in the center of 6.5” knee speakers and the LEDs on the 8” soundbar speakers to the same factory auxiliary switch.

I’m now experimenting with some subwoofer box construction ideas and will update with progress.

Boy, those are some super high RMS watt requirements…? What does the rest of the system look like? How large/many amplifiers are you running?

Well this is it right now. Even with factory sub and without the 4-8” RF speakers connected yet. It’s substantially better sound quality and volume. I planned on having an amp for the 4 dash speakers but all the amps I seen that weren’t to expensive are to big for under passenger seat. With the amp, soundbar, and 4-8” speakers alone I have about $3k invested. Plus after just upgrading the speakers themselves made more of an improvement than I thought. And I’d like to get the subwoofer situation figured out first.
