I bought a 23 Mojave that had sat on the lot for over a year. The ESS would not work so I drove it a thousand miles to a conference in So. Cal. Still didn’t work so I took it to the dealer. They said the batteries tested ok. But the ESS still didn’t work. So the dealer contacted the STAR Tech that sent this a long process of resetting the ESS with a series of three 30 mile drives with a 3 hour wait between each drive cycle. I asked the service advisor if they thought it would work and she said she doubted that it would fix the problem. I said no thank you. So I bought another NACO battery tender and plugged it in. A week later, it works perfect. So now I have a Rubicon and a Mojave plugged in every day. The questions I get from neighbors are priceless. Are they hybrids? Why do you use a block heater in the summer? And the best, why do modern vehicles need to be plugged in?

Thanks for posting this document. The battery / electrical circuit is more sophisticated then I realized. Very helpful information.
All of the service manual is available in the Maintenance forum. You can download the entire thing.
