Aux switches unavailable battery charging

Can someone help me.Ive been getting aux switches unavailable message and when i drive no more than a city block the aux switches work but as soon as you turn the truck off the message comes back.I tested both batteries they are 12.49 in cool weather.The aux battery is a year old the main 3 yrs old.Weird thing is i hooked everything back up and the message disappeared and the aux switches work fine.I even let it sit for a couple hours and still get no message.Why would it change if the main was getting weak.I really don’t want to change a battery if its good but also don’t want to get stuck with it not starting im puzzled.

I started getting that message on a Friday. On Monday the truck wouldn’t start or take a charge enough to start. I replaced both batteries. Main was done when tested. Aux still showed 200 CCA when tested.
OEM batteries , bought Jeep June 7, 2019. Replaced batteries early September this year.

The consensus is that one, or both, of your batteries are on the way out. BTDT, bought the two batteries and all is now normal.

i would think the same thing but why since i unhooked both batteries and hooked them back up did the message now disappear and the aux switches work fine it makes no sense.

Maybe you had a poor battery terminal connection and reseating them fixed that issue.

i was thinking that but the connections were never removed or worked on since i owned it but it might have been that.

If you removed the IBS from the negative post of the Main Battery, that reset it and will temporarily get rid of the message.

Disconnect the negative cables and separately charge each battery. Let them sit for a while. Each one should read 12.8 volts. Anything below 12.6 and that battery is going to need replaced soon.

Disconnect the IBS for about ten minutes before putting it all back together. Make sure the batteries are fully charged. Be careful with the cable ends so you don't get any shorts while working on it. That can blow the high current fuse array and cause other issues.

Yes i was thinking the same thing but both tested fine and its been 2 days now no message and switches working fine so i dont know.The main is 3 yrs old so its due but still cranks fine and tests fine

The message is an indication of a problem. To be blunt about it, you could spend days trying to figure out the "why" of something, or you could spend an hour or two getting the batteries properly tested and/or replaced. A simple voltage test just isn't enough to gauge battery health.

Sometimes the "why" doesn't really matter. In the end, the goal is to fix the issue.
