Drone isn't the right word. It is just very loud right at about 3k RPMs under modest acceleration just before it shifts. It's relatively tame when it's being babied and sounds absolutely phenomenal at WOT. It's definitely not a V8 and I'm pretty sure I like it...?
I had a Ram 1500 with the AWE exhaust and it was the same...it was "noise", not drone. It's different to everyone's ears also. Makes me want to buy the system for my JT but coming from a V8 Ram, I like how quiet it is...for now

So after a couple thousand miles it really has mellowed out a lot, it seems. I now like it quite a bit whereas I wasn’t so sure the day I installed it. It has a nice gurlgle to it and sounds deep and throaty….for a v6. That’s really the thing. It’s still a v6. No two ways around it. I have always been a “if it ain’t a v8 or diesel then don’t bother with exhaust” guy, but I think the Gladiator with the AWE system actually sounds about as good as a v6 can.

I have to agree with you my 5.0 in my f150 was loud with my exhaust. To me this isn’t loud whatsoever. That lil bit of drone I had in the beginning is gone completely.

How is the kit as far as performance wise. If I read correctly ....... the muffler is a straight thru design and should allow for a smoother flow of the exhaust. I am just curious if anyone is getting that "seat of the pants" feel?

ie: quicker response to acceleration, a little more get up and go??

I don’t feel any difference. I just wanted more noise. Would I pull the trigger again. Absolutely

Can anyone comment on the sound differences, if any, between dual tread and single tread versions of this exhaust? I have the single tread and swapped it out for a Borla S-type, simply because I felt the AWE was just too loud. I much prefer the tone of the AWE over the Borla and I wonder if dual tips would "spread" the noise out a bit.

When I talked to awe they said the dual spreads the sound out more. I have the trail and love it. No complaints from the wife or kids either. But everyone is going to have their opinions on how loud it is.

Did the Awe drone any on long highway trips? What did you not like about the s- type? I am trying to decide between the Awe, s-type, and afe Mach force xp
The AWE doesn't drone. It is loud though. Obviously, it's at the threshold of what I can tolerate. I also have a career that requires me to be up early, and I regularly leave my house before 5:00am. The neighbors haven't complained but I am fairly self-conscious about that.

The S-type has more of a raspy sound than the AWE but it's also a bit quieter. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. The AWE sounds fantastic as far as the tone goes, but it's loud. As others have mentioned, it's almost exotic sounding.

I may try out the dual tread tips and see if brings things to a more acceptable level. I need to be careful, though. The wife isn't thrilled that I have a stock exhaust and two aftermarket exhausts. ??‍♂

So I’ve gone back and forth between the AWE and the Borla S-Type a few times. The AWE has somewhere around 2.5-3k miles on it. The S-type has been on the truck for the last couple months and has probable about the same mileage on it. Yesterday I swapped back to the AWE and that’s the one that’s staying on the truck. I would say the Borla got louder as it broke in whereas the AWE got mellower. The tone from the AWE is just so much better than the Borla. It‘s really not even close. The Borla is raspy and not really gurgly; kind of reminds me of my old college roommate’s 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix, lol. Whereas the AWE is deep and throaty, gurgly, almost exotic sounding, as others have mentioned.

I love my AWE trail. Best exhaust so far and Ive had a few between my 2020 and 22’. I was always searching for this perfect tone, as I believe the pentastar v6 actually sounds decent to my ears. The AWE gives it this exotic kind of growl/burble. I find it more tolerable at most rpms over my previous AFE 3” except around 3k. For some reason 3k rpm it kinda just gets loud. Best way to describe it. Loud. Only 3k though, under or over its great. Love the low rpm growl and its menacing over 4k. My cold starts seem quieter now and cruising seems quieter too after about 1000k on it now. Still love it and the t304L stainless steel up here should last a long time.

I've had the AWE for a couple years now and love it. It definitely has an aggressive tone, kind of reminds me of a German V6 Sportscar especially since I have it paired with an AFE intake. I have the high mount exhaust single tip where its not visible and love it. I would purchase it again in a heartbeat. Zero performance noticeability, just noise.

As you can tell by my numerous previous posts in this thread, I was a bit unsure when I first bolted up the AWE. I'm glad I stuck with it as it really does sound great. Cold starts and cruising are much tamer, now, after around 4k miles. I also think that loudness at 3k RPM has eased a bit, too. Overall, it settled in right where I hoped it would.

Can't speak to the single version but the dual is still pretty damn loud under acceleration:).

Oh she’s loud for sure but it’s more refined than when the AWE system was brand spanking new. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to it but it seems like it’s gotten a little easier to “tiptoe” and keep it quiet when necessary. Gotta love the way it sings when the driving gets spirited, though.
