Been going over a year without the ESS working properly, figured it was the aux battery being dead (or close to it). Dealer claimed both batteries were fine about a year ago (figured it was worth a check at the time since it was still under the bumper to bumper). No biggie, figured eventually I'd see some signs of the dash freaking out or it just wouldn't start and I'd replace both batteries at that time.
Btw, 2023 model (bought in March '23) and I'm now at 21k miles.
Took a 12-13 hr roadtrip recently over the course of two days (a quick there and back again), and low and behold the ESS now works.
So I guess I'll be using a trickle charger from now on. I have one ready to go, set up to use the trailer plug, but had figured I'd start using it whenever I put the new batteries in. My weekly driving isn't very long but there's at least 2-3 30 minute drives in there, guess that's just not enough to juice it up!
