Trying to decide on a bed cover and can't decide between the soft roll up or the soft tri fold. What is everyone going with?

I have the soft tri-fold. It was installed by the dealer, since the truck was ordered without one. I like it, and it works quite well. It even held down some plywood for the one mile trip home from Lowes.

That is what I am leaning towards.

I got the rugged ridge soft tri fold & am so far quite happy with it. Havent removed it yet for anything, but opening is easy enough & seems to keep water out & eyes off.

Went with the Rough Country hard tri-fold. Been great so far and pretty good on keeping the rain out. Did add a little more foam tape in the corners at the cab end of the cover.

I love the rugged ridge Armis tri-fold with Line-X. It matches the line-x in the bed, and it does not scratch. Security is also great.

I have the mopar tri fold and love it. Its very secure and i rarely have water in the bed. When I do its only a little. no noise from it with speed and its help up great to abuse from my 5 year old walking, and playing, on it while im parked at the house. I installed my self which was a bit of a pain. Its also only two bolts to removed the tri fold and set it in the garage for larger items like wood or a motorcycle.

At the end of the day its a balance between what you need and your budget. i carry my vest and some other items for work and they need to be "secured in my vehicle" which means they have to be under a hard cover of some kind like in a trunk. So I needed the hard tri fold for that purpose. If I didnt I may have gone with a less expensive soft since its my assumption they may be less cumbersome to take off while your out and about if you need the extra space. i need to plan ahead with the hard tri fold.

Mine came with a soft roll-up from the factory. If I'd have ordered one, I'd have probably gotten the hard tri-fold, but I'm happy with the one I have.

Does that one lock? I'm between ordering a Gladiator or getting one off the lot. The one on the lot has the roll up.

Yeah, the roll up has a latch at the tailgate. When the gate is closed, you can’t open it.

I’m sure a determined thief could get into it much easier than a hard one, but you can’t just walk by and roll it up.

My dad has an LE with the factory rolling soft bed cover and even with the tailgate closed, it can be pryed open pretty easily. A thief would need to know the vulnerability to take advantage of it though.

My dad rigged up a small turnbuckle to the bed walls to keep that last section of it from being able to be pryed up.

That’s good to know. I don’t plan on keeping anything more valuable than some bungee cords and maybe a farm jack back there. Oh, and beach toys for my 4-year-old.

If I had a bed full of tools or anything else with real value, I’d get a hard cover.
