That makes sense on our situation. I still had a loan on my car and was getting -3k equity so it made sense for me to sell ti Carvana because they paid off my loan. If you plan on getting rid of your wife’s GC it’s a good time. Used vehicles are hot right now and people are getting crazy offers on their cars. I asked Carvana why they gave me more for my car than what they offered me a few months ago and they said that because of the pandemic everyone is shopping online.
I think you are right - you don't see a lot of people sitting in the dealer show rooms, and you don't see squat in their lots.
There is no new inventory! When I had my JT serviced a couple of weeks or so back I walked through the lot that used to have rows of JTs and more Wranglers than I had time to look at. Now - two JTs and hardly any Wranglers at all. IT was a quick walk.

Spencer told me of one dealership that is sitting at 10% of their normal stock. I checked his inventory hoping to at least have something to talk about or look at and he's got nothing at all on hand Jeep-wise. No Wranglers and only 6 Grand Cherokees.

I agree - this has driven the price of clean, used LOW miles vehicles up. I told my wife of his sight-unseen numbers for her vehicle and he's got our interest.
Perfect is yet to be seen - the other side - new vehicle choices, and prices. But he's got her more serious now. And he didn't mind my silly questions.
I had to laugh though when he asked me to give him her top three color choices. I told her he asked and she said this was her color choice list- (and I QUOTE)
1. Purple,
2. Purple,
3. Purple.
Oh he's going to think we are CRAZY.

I would find out what the invoice is. I got my Rubicon this weekend for $500 below invoice. MSRP was 56,185. Invoice was 53,108. So paid 52,608.

you can usually get a new vehicle for at or less than invoice. They will tell you you can’t. But we have always been able too. As long as it isn’t the hottest selling thing at the time.

your OTD price doesn’t sound to bad if that includes taxes. But what invoice is, is a good constant that you can use to see if your getting a good price. I would say $500+\- Invoice is good.

thank you. The invoice is $42000. So it sounds like $42000 out the door is not bad including taxes.

Taxes here would be the kicker - thousands on that, so I'd be happy with that as a total.
OTD is normally the final paid price, all inclusive, so assumed that's your definition as well.....

The corporate dealers here won't budge. I mean they REFUSE to even think about anything less than MSRP. The so-called "sales managers" the sales people keep going back to chat with (and likely talking last night's ball game instead) eventually come out and BS you like crazy, try to wear you down and in the end even saying "this or we walk" won't work on them as they know the next person in will be worn down and pay full MSRP - and add a bunch of other stuff, too. Seriously, these guys here drive me nuts! No dealing.
I WAS able to get a couple of grand off my JT because I had it ordered, then decided to chat with Spencer and he shot me a much better price...... but I had already gone through such a hassle and dealers are all at least 30-60 minutes away, nothing closer, so I had ordered hoping to pull a rabbit out at the last minute.
Well, I had SOLD my trade-in truck and that pissed them off, seriously! They told me at first "well, we won't be able to sell it very easily, it's older, it needs tires, we'll spend a lot getting it prepped" and other BS - then when I told them I had it sold when I went to pick up the JT - they were ticked and said "we had buyers for that truck" "we were looking for it to come in we needed that truck".

Then I pulled out the quote from Spencer and told them - hey, this guy is a long ways away and we've already been through a lot and I need a truck, but still, I know I can get this price right now, this week. I told them- you need to take at least 2 grand off or I'm going up north with my money (they only had 100 bucks from us and I'd have let them keep it)
They were literally shaken! The sales guy went back to another office and came out with the manager and they said - ok, if we take off 2,000 and then that's good, we're done? I said yup - I'll pay here and now if you come down 2 grand, otherwise we drive away (and there was my ordered JT sitting out front)
I'd never seen a sales guy shaken like that before.

This time I'm not even going to mess with the local dealers as far as buying. My wife is afraid to even go to them to look at vehicles in the lots to see what's out there for colors and to compare Wrangler to Grand Cherokee for comfort and height and all (getting in and out is a hassle for her) I told her - just tell them we are comparing models and know they won't deal on price. IF they push, tell them thanks but no thanks, we already know we can get below invoice on some models and have a respectable offer on our trade.
I'm sick of their BS - the one supposed manager guy is Irish and boy can he pour it on, the blarney is so thick a JT would have to be lifted 3", sit on 37" tires and have lockers to get through it. He tries to act all homey and we're buddies and all.

I was recently car shopping with/for my daughter, a first time shopper/buyer. We were prepared to pay almost full price ($14K) on a used car from the Ankeny Jeep dealer. Not only would they not budge on price, the sales manger was so full of baloney that we walked out. I kept watching that car online and within the next few weeks it was listed as low as $10.5k before it sold. It was an excellent experience for her to see how dishonest some sales people are.

LOL - you met the Irishman, than? While out today gathering information for my wife to make a decision on what to trade for IF she trades, we saw the sales manager where I bought my JT - she whispered - oh, not him, I can't stand that guy.
The guy who said they'd likely have trouble selling my Chevy, oh, we may have to auction it at a LOSS, no we can't budge, can't do more and will likely lose money or it will sit on our lot for months.... then wasn't happy when I told them I sold it already (to a DEALER) and he went on how they had that sold, they wanted that truck, it would be a hot one to have, etc. Double-talk.

With luck, we are thinking of driving up north early AM tomorrow. Still hashing out color options and still not decided between Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. But I have a "must have" list and a couple of "Wishes" in there - unless she changes her mind.
She HATES SHOPPING!!!!!!!!! (I bet she only has 3 or 4 pairs of shoes she hates shopping so much)
