Looking to mount my 26” Estwing camp axe to the rear bulkhead behind the rear seats. I have had this in every truck for longer than I can remember, great tool! I had it under the seats but it’s getting buried under all the other stuff and would like to have better access.
Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have or pictures. I know I can’t be the only one that has this axe and doesn’t want to mount it in the bed or exposed to the elements. Thanks in advance, Joel.

I have this axe as well and love it. I put mine up against the rear bulkhead behind where the rear seats would be if I haven’t taken them out..

What mounts did yo use? Thinking of fabbing some Velcro loops or something similar? The axe is the best, I’ve owned it for literally three decades ?! Estwing makes great tools expensive but will last a lifetime.

I have a small Gränsfors Bruk Outdoors Axe and a Gerber Tomahawk, which I like because it’s like a mini civilian Denver tool. I sometimes carry one of them. They’re small enough, especially the Gränsfors to put in the cab, under the front seat. You can also mount an axe to a rear under seat molle basket with guick fists. Personally I don’t like mounting axes to the outside of my vehicle. But I would recommend an alternative to the axe entirely.

I stopped carrying a one for firewood or for clearing trees that have fallen across the trail a few years ago. I rarely encounter a fallen tree that I can’t simply pick up and move and when I do it’s bigger than something I want to chop through. I save myself a whole lot of campsite work and carry a Dewalt 20v chainsaw with a 12 inch bar instead.

Surprisingly, this works really well for all sorts of things including plunge cuts through trees which are hard to do with larger, more powerful chainsaws. Despite its tiny bar, it’s not a gimmick device. It’s designed for cutting 4x4s and 6x6s at job sites and has a rating for how many it will do. It will last plenty long for cutting up firewood at camp or through an obstacle. Then I just carry a supper small axe for kindling which I rarely use. The saw is small enough to wedge somewhere in the bed or rear passenger footwell. I already carry a Dewalt impact driver for working on the truck, driving screw stakes and changing tires. Electric ones are better than pneumatic at this point. I’ve already got a big 10ah battery and extra charger in the truck for that. You could mount the saw to a rack but I’d want a case for it and theft would be an issue. It’s never gotten in the way in my truck. Just wrap it in a trash bag to prevent any bar oil or wood debris from getting on stuff.

I literally use a pair of jumbo rubber bands my wife got me for a Christmas stocking stuffer (she challenges me to find out of the norm uses for various things. Nothing fancy.

I also have the DeWalt mini chain saw but I don’t bring it on trips…but it’s great around the property.
