Do any of you saying no change in reception live out in the country or take cross-country trips? Asking because I put a 50cal bullet antenna on my JKU and reception sucks where I live. I don’t even turn on the radio anymore
The Cravenspeed antenna is supposed to provide reception similar to the factory antenna. There will be issues in rural areas, depending on the direction of the source signal, especially if the stubby antenna is below the hood line.

Where’s the link to the thread that eliminates the antenna on the exterior and straps it under the cowl? I believe it said you still retain pretty good reception.

I have the Rydonair 7" on mine. I got it mostly for looks and living in the Northeast have to use car washes regularly during the winter. I have not noticed much (if any) difference in reception. However, I do live near a major city so can't speak to how it would perform in more rural areas.

Replacement after a turkey took out the original. Wanted something similar to stock.

I saw that video too. It looked nasty. Made me think about a different direction for the shorter antenna.

I have the Rydonair 13". For looks only, I have satellite.

On one of the LiteBrite videos a woman was getting out of a doors off rig that was stuck, slipped, and the back of her upper arm came down on top of a bullet antenna. She was hanging by it until someone pulled her off. Ouch

+1 on Quadratec. I got the stubby antenna and quick disconnect for Christmas. No reception difference but I live outside Atlanta so I don't know about long distance reception.

logic would tell me your experience could be largely dependent on where you live relative to where your locals broadcast from.

I got the quatratech 16 inch while I was getting my CB antenna mount. Works like a charm.

Now my gripe. Do not use automatic carwashes with brushes or felt strips. Majors pet peeve of mine. They do thousands of dollars of damage to your paint. There’s no such thing as clean brushes. Unless you can find a touchless automatic car wash use the wand. Yeah I know…it’s a Jeep. But it’s a damn expensive one and I don’t want the sand and grit from the previous 50 vehicles that ran through the car wash to be ground into my paint. I assume others don’t as well.

I have crystal clear hd radio signal with the stock antenna, immediate static with the shorty.

i live in newburyport ma, like 25 miles north of boston. radio signal is typically pretty decent around me, i'm not in the sticks.

Thank you ALL for your quick and informative responses. I just ordered the 16" quadratech antenna. I'm hoping the coating is rubberized and won't damage the paint if it touches the body. Let's see! Thanks again ?.
