I had to carry something in my truck that the other day that upon tipping it in some rusty water fell out and ran down my bedliner. I was wondering what the best method would be to remove the stains from the bedliner? I have CLR, but I wasn’t sure if it was safe to spray on. Thanks for any help you may offer!

I was going to suggest CLR since you already have some. It shouldn't hurt the bedliner. I'd try a little bit on a rag in a small corner. You might not want to use a lot and have it spread the stain. Keep us posted on the results.

It might just be particulate, have you hit it with a pressure washer yet?

I would NOT use CLR….. that shit is nasty. ….…it’d probably have a chemical reaction with the liner/rubber (corrosion) and/or cause staining that you can’t fix.

If you don’t have a power washer…I’d suggest Simple Green and a good scrub brush. 😉

But I’m here for other suggestions….

Apple cider vinegar.
For removing rust is the best and safest.
I have a 125 quart Ice chest filled with Apple cider vinegar for soaking rusty pieces and parts.
For large flat areas lay down a pieces of paper towel and soak.
For extremely rusted and pitied metal you may have to wire brush or pressure wash between soakings.
Do not leave cast iron in to long. It can eat and pit cast iron.
You will be amazed on how well it works.

I had batteries spill over when some fool cut me off, that left a bit more “stain” than what you have there. I as able to soak most of it up in an old towel, then rinsed it out as best I could slowly on flat ground, using a very strong vacuum to lift whatever was left out and off the ground. Then used WD40, with a soft brush and rotary motion, then let set in the sun. There was sort of a stain left, so I bought some bed liner material and rolled a coating over the entire floor to match. Looks great after many months of Florida sun, car washes and rain storms.

You can use some cleanser with oxalic acid such as Barkeepers friend or Zud. Mix it into a paste with water and let it sit on for a few minutes. Might require a couple of applications. Pretesting an area is always a good idea. I have used this method to clean iron stains off brick.

So I’m in the mid-Atlantic and my hose bibs are off for the winter, so my personal power washer was out. It was in fact just particulate matter on top of the liner, so I went to a local car wash, fed in $3.50 worth of quarters, and went to town with the high power rinse function. That seems to have done the trick, but I’m going to let it dry, and then check again tomorrow. If there’s still residual staining, to the vinegar I’ll try next. Hoping to avoid having to use the CLR.

Thanks for all who pitched in! I genuinely appreciate it!
