So after searching, reading, and dissecting, is there a third choice?
Looking for real owner opinions for pros and cons.
Pricing appears similar, and am I correct are the two from the same parent company?
This is what I feel I need for the spring, summer, and fall camping season to increase the dry capacity in the 5’ box.
For winter the 3 piece folding soft tonneau goes back on.
Any help is appreciated.

I have had the Softopper on my JT for about a year now, and I absolutely love it. I considered switching to the Besttop version when it was released, but after researching it, I decided it wasn't for me. Mainly because the front window is not removable on the Besttop. We travel with dogs and having the front window out during the summer combined with the mesh rear window, allows a comfortable, well-ventilated space for the pups. Just my $.02.

Thanks for the info, I have been leaning towards the Softopper.

Still back and forth between the two.
Thought there would be more chiming in with opinions.

Going on two years with the softopper. I love it so much that I'm buying an overpriced rack to go over the cab so I can still utilize the topper fully.

I've never had leaks. I chose it over bestop bc you can fold it down without having to store the side pieces.

Also, nobody around me has one. Makes the truck functional, and stand out without having a huge lift and tires.

I'm a big fan of my softopper, super flexible, not crazy expensive (got mine used, though). I came from a full size so the cab feels small to me and I like to keep all my junk in the back when camping or traveling with the fam.

@Trickster you are correct that Bestop owns SofTopper now. It's an interesting dynamic because we are still 2 different companies with 2 competing products, each with different features. Here's a short video that helps explain the differences. Let me know if I can help with any questions!

I have a Softopper on my Rebel. Really like it.
Probably grab one for my Mojave when it gets delivered.
I run safari style during the nice months, and closed up during the inclement weather.

On my second Softopper (1st was on a Dodge Dakota). Love the flexibility - on the bed in up or down, off in the shed when you don’t want/need it.
If you want to make it a sleeper, get the Canopy Top Tent. Worth the little extra cost. Softopper even sends an adjustable support for the tent when you order tog

Nice set up. What rack do you have mounted over the Softopper?

Has anyone seen or used this set up with their Soft Top? https://xtrusion-overland.com/products/xtr1-for-softopper-bestop

I live in the rainy Pacific Northwest and need to haul my dogs in the back all year round (in crates). I'm leaning towards the Bestop so that I can drive safari style in the summer and keep them cool. I really wish that Bestop offered a rear cab window option like the Softopper (need to communicate with these pups). I think a rack would definitely add some functionality, but I'm not totally sold on using a roof top tent, so I'm looking for options.
