I cant honestly say which one I like more. The soft topper is a more low-profile design on the sides seems less bulky overall.

But the bestop is a sleeker design that doesnt takeup the interior bed room when folded down.

cost wise they're almost the same.

Ill go with the twill @Bestop as long as something like the canvas cage rack system works and they dont try to charge $2k for it. I want to be able to water proof gear and carry a tent, and then convert my pick up back to a pick up.

Just installed the softopper top. Wish the fabric was either canvas or a Matt viny, but the flexibility is great.

It’s a semi gloss heavy duty fabric backed vInyl. very practical.

as the lid is aluminium I also fastened two washers inside the lid panel, and used magnets attached To the Velcro for fastening. Not a fan of exposed Velcro on the trunk lid.

Had my Softopper for 2 months. I like it for the pup. It will be nice to roll up sides and back this summer. Got some netting to add in void for ventilation And safety. Same as what I did on my LJ.

Probably. Solid panels will roll easier, won't scratch like windows... you can't see much out of that angle anyways.

@Bestop - once the twill comes out - I’d be ready to pull the trigger, BUT, a vented and/or screened rear window is a must (Softopper has the option). Is this in the works ever?

Does anyone see a reason (clamp depth/height, topper overall height, ect...) why the Datin Softopper Bed Racks wouldn't work with the Bestop version too? I spoke with Bestop chat yesterday and they couldn't verify either way. They said it hasn't been tested. Well at first they said, "We do not test our products with other manufacturers' aftermarket products, so I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure."

I mentioned, "I thought Bestop owns Softopper?

So it seems like this isn't really an "other manufacturer?"

The CS Rep asked around and confirmed it hasn't been tested.

My kinda "issue" is... that if I were to order one and it doesn't work, there's a 15% restocking fee and I'd be responsible for return shipping. In a world where Amazon has spoiled us, this ain't great policy.

Just curious, would this rack preserve the collapsibility of the softopper? It’d be nice if we could collapse the topper without removing the rack for tall loads or loading bikes/ ATVs.
