I have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator Sport. I had my first oil changed at approximately 4600 miles. I had it done at the Dealership and they asked me if I wanted BG boa oil treatment. They said it would cover the engine for life if used at every oil change. I have 2 questions 1) My engine seems louder and more mechanical then before, has anyone had a similar experience? 2) Has any one had to utilize the warranty? Thanks

IMO..Your Gladiator did not need that.. Follow the owners manual, use the correct oils and fluids. That is a major profit maker for the sellers/installers. With this post rest assured that will never cross over the grill on mine.

I add this to the fuel, once a month, don't know if it helps any. Sea Foam IC5 Fuel Injector Cleaner, 5.25 oz https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B086RLX...n_i_54DWRHY6P9TMP32ED3NR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I would not add anything to the oil. Jeep could use it to deny warranty coverage for engine issues. The dealer adding it doesn't really protect you, but does document that it was added, which could be used against you.

Profit padding for the dealership. Regular, on time oil changes are all you need. Your motor would only be louder if you had some type of buildup sludging or they used a thinner oil than factory build. I can't see sludge being a problem in a 4600 mile engine. I would be leary of that dealership.

If properly maintained, most BG additives are not needed.

That being said, I have seen first hand positive results with some BG cleaners for both fuel and engine oil neglected engines do wonders and think they are useful.

BG is a high solids lubricant and usually used if rings, bearings and rockers are sloppy on high MILAGE vehicles. Usually the characteristics of high solids is to pack in the smaller places that need oil flow. How a high solid acts is to flow out in the heat and fill areas that get sloppy. When engine gets cold, the solid solidifies and creates a barrier. Repeated use, the solids pack in on themselves and pushes out on the rings, bearings and such which cause more wear.

Your new engine doesn’t need it and it was ill advised. Your book also says not to use additives

Will the company making the additive still be around, if you need to collect, and what requirements do they impose to actually collect on the warranty?

If the engine does not seem right, I would drain and refill right away. If it is an additive intended for high mileage engines, it is possible for it to have adverse effects on a new engine.

One thing you can probably count on is that BG will be around.

They were pushing their snake oil back when I was a service writer 30 years ago.
