Billie Bars v Voodoo Max Aluminum

Greetings. I don't want to start any flame wars here, just looking for opinions from people who have experience with both/either.

Looking to put a short rack that allows for the Mopar roll up tonneau cover. I will not be using a tent, so dynamic weight isn't a big concern.

Mostly I'm looking for recommendations based on durability and quality. Canadian winters are tough on vehicles and my last rack system on My JKU rusted way too much despite the price and reputation.

So: Durability/quality. Allows for Mopar tonneau.

I have the original KB Voodoo bars, and if I could do it all over again I would get Billiebars instead. I could never get the brackets to align properly, and those two little tabs that the cross bars rest on never align either. So, I would have to take the whole setup down, and not just able to remove the cross bars. I think they re-designed them since to have a cradle to sit in. I think I would still do Billiebars though. And that's my plan this coming summer, change them over.

I've been super happy with my BillieBars setup. It's been very sturdy and versatile. The modularity is great, and the addition of molle panels is just icing on the cake. I even went the extra step and made a removable tent mount that goes on to them so I can bolt up a RTT quickly but also remove it when not in use. I can use the same lift system to easily remove the basket+crossbars base if I want to, but it's also light enough that I can do it myself and have the open bed whenever I need it. It's truly a win-win-win.

I'm sure the Voodoo Pro-X bars are also very nice, but they just don't seem to have the same appeal and versatility. The BillieBars also seem to have a much more solid way of holding the crossbars which makes me more confident but also makes them easier to remove and install.

The Voodoo Max-Modular system isn't really comparable to the BillieBars though, that's a different class of bed racks.

I'd still recommend the BillieBars to anyone because of their versatility and how easy they are to remove entirely.

I'm a few weeks in on a KB Voodoo aluminum 14-inch rack with the tonneau brackets for a roll-up Mopar cover.

So far, so good. Mostly straightforward install and it seems like a very stout rack. You need to get the front/rear placement just right to fit behind the front tonneau mount and enough forward of the latch that you can pivot it up to release it, but there's a sweet spot there. You slide the cover under the rear legs, and then roll back until you hit the front legs. You can't fully roll up unless you unbolt the six of the eight tonneau bracket bolts and pivot it up like the hood. I did it once because I had to, but I don't see a reason to need to do that again. Access to the bed is plenty good just rolling to the front legs.
