If the wires are twisted, they should be fine. It's when wires are run parallel you are more likely to have troubles.
Shielding a wire shouldn't cause any issues - not a simple wrap to block interference from near-by wires of other types but honestly, what interference would you get that would impact a mic in these trucks..........
If it was mine I was putting a different mic in, I'd make sure the wires were twisted and not parallel.
ShadowsPapa,

So your saying the wires coming out of the mic going to the plug should be twisted ?
From the looks of the posted pics, they are not...
So
If I were to add the GC mics, I would need to splice the connection, so I could twist and secure them before I installed them.

Do you have part numbers for the mics ?
Also, what type of glue did you use ? I was thinking hot glue ?
Thanks
I have read this entire thread. I just got my 2023 Mojave and have the same issue. It's ridiculous. Jeep should care more about it's owners and do something about the problem. At least replace the mics with better something better. I believe this is the part number that people are using as a replacement mic. May be able to find some cheaper elsewhere.

No problem. I think it was mentioned at the beginning at some point and I opened up a tab on my laptop to look at the part. Some have gotten them much cheaper so I may look into that as well. Just hate taking apart that area to fix something that's been an issue for years that Jeep is ignoring. I'm not sure I'm even comfortable taking it apart. The pics posted still have me questioning exactly what to do. Many states have a hands free law now but our JT's are useless at higher speeds. I either need to seriously look into doing this or just use my ear buds while driving. More research in my immediate future.

I reread , still couldn't find it... so thanks again for the part#.
*(reread again, found on page #8)
I got both mics for $22.50 shipped.

It's very easy process. Just be careful, remove the overhead panels (they will have the mic cutouts in them). Pay special attention when un-snapping the oem mics from the panel, so you don't damage it.

Disconnect and remove the oem mics.

Use (cut them off) the connectors from the oem mics

Cut off the connectors from the new replacement mics

Soilder/crimp whatever method you choose... the oem mic connectors to the ends of the new updated mics

Reinstall... note, the updated mics will not snap back into the panels (different shape mic)... so you will have to tape/glue the new mics in place.

Seems very straightforward. I would be happy to help you further if your need arises.

I also think if they had used a higher end mic with noise cancelling it may have helped. Would be great to what brand and model they used.
I believe the oem is:
Mopar # 68292797AA

The noise canceling version to replace/fix is:
Mopar #68207349AB

I believe they are both branded HARMON KARDON.... which is IMO decent stuff... but made in China

Thanks. May hit you up if I have more questions. Removing the panels is what I'm most concerned with. Where did you get them for that price? That's much cheaper.

@JCappy

Yeah, this was by far the cheapest I could find them priced at. The are oem -bulk packed, not retail packaged... but that doesn't bother me, especially considering the rating of the seller.
At this price I might consider it. A pair for $50, I've wasted better money on crappier purchases!

No bud ! Half that !

Actually... for the pair it's $22.50 + tax if you're state collects internet tax.
They are $12.50 ea unless you purchase more at the same time. For two, they are $11.25 ea.

Thanks for that, I should have read the fine print. I was honestly just in the driveway looking at it trying to remember if I had any of that thin microphone covering to try and insulate it first but it just keeps getting cheaper. If I'm opening it up, I'm going all the way!

That's a great price. Makes it worth giving it a shot. Anything is better than the mics now. I made a trip last month and it was nearly impossible to talk to anyone while traveling. I may also look for a windsock to add that may help even more. Appreciate the link. Thank you Sir.

Me too... I got mine ordered.... the ebay seller is probably going to wonder what the sudden interest is when he starts getting several orders ?
Get them before he raises prices .. ha ha

Same issues. I get frustrated and have to call back when I get home.... especially when I am on BT and they are on their speaker phone...
Anyway, hopefully this will be the fix.
