Midland seems to be the predominant brand for GMRS, of course there are others, but I wanted to ask the collective about Bull Bar Antennas. I have a couple Boafeng handhelds and a Midland 15W mobile and want to get a bull bar antenna for the midland. I think Im looking to get two different strength antennas, the lower 3.x dB for the mountains and the 6.5dB for the plains/deserts. Any preferences on brands from the collective? Anyone running the Big 5 Overland brand? Always looking to support up & comers or smaller companies . Yea I know Baofeng and Midland are not either :)

Good to have both but I think you’re backwards on the use case between 3 and 6.5 db gains. Never heard of the Big 5 Overland brand though.

I’d skip the cheap bar antennas and go Firestik or Tram for more consistent GMRS performance. Lower gain for mountains, higher for flats is a good plan. Big5 Overland stuff is okay for the price but not as solid as Firestik/Tram.

I dont think Firestik makes antennas for GMRS. Only CB. I might be wrong though...

Using an HT Midland GXT1000 now. This after trying some chineeze knock-off from Amazon that let me down last year in Colorado. Worse, that knock-off booted with some female chineeze voice, so I'm good with that radio failing.
