Camber??

Hi, been wrenching on cars my whole life. Brought my Gladiator in for an alignment yesterday and was told that my camber was way off and needed to be adjusted. My natural response was, “You mean caster, right?” He said nope, camber. I told him it’s a solid front axle and that without aftermarket ball joint shims, there’s no adjusting camber on a factory Jeep front axle. He insisted that there’s a way to adjust it, and that they “took care of it”. I’m calling on my hyper-experienced forum techs to set me straight on this. Thanks!

Did they try to charge you for that service? Because if so I'd ask to see what they did. You're right, there isn't any adjustment for that. The only time your camber should be off is if you've got a busted ball joint or something.

No, they didn’t charge me extra for this. That’s what I thought, thank you for the reply.

They would have to swap out the camber bushing(s) (13 in pic) on the upper ball joint(s). Did they give you an alignment before/after printout?

Hi, yes they gave me a printout. Camber was in the green on both sides before alignment. After alignment it changed .1 degree on the left side. I just think it’s a case of a tire shop service writer trying to make it seem like they corrected something for me that no other alignment shop in the entire world has the capability to address. lol.
