I am trying to chase down a noise on my week old truck. I didn’t notice it on my 2020. Unless I actually had defrost on. It sounds like the slight hiss sound that happens when you have defrost vents going, but its not AC/Defrost related.

On my new truck when I get to 15+ mph I start to hear this constant air hiss noise. It is not rpm dependent. It sounds like how you can hear the defroster vents going if you have them on low. I have nothing turned on at all. It’s not defrost or air condition related from what I can tell. I cant pinpoint the exact location, but I am going to start around the windshield as it appears to be in front of me somewhere in the dash or windshield area from what I can tell. I cant really pinpoint it. I will have to get someone to drive me while i move around and listen to different areas.

I checked the floor plugs under my mats. They are fine and it made no change. It sounds like it’s coming from the dash or trans tunnel area. (I think) What’s weird as when I hit a bump the noise does a small break for a split second.

I can’t really describe the sound unless I am hearing more things now since there is no additional engine cover any more. Or is this a normal rubicon sound as my 2020 was a sport.

While looking earlier at the windshield, i noticed right in the middle under the glass there is a rubber seal. There is a gap on that seal where the two ends meet up. I am wondering if that may be the culprit or if all of them are like that.

I may take a ride out later and just put tape over that area and see if that does anything.

Then take it to the dealership and have them plug the air gap.

i will if its not common or is the cause of issue.
I just now got around to doing the tape over test first. Will take it for a drive shortly to see if any change.

Both of you are woking towards the same thing. Two minds type of thing. I'm not getting anything in my JT but ill be happy to send pics or test.
Thanks so much for the pic. Its appreciated. i just didnt know if it was common and I couldnt really find a pic online to tell. Also no other JT around me at the moment to look at.
Thats good that you have no noise. If thats not it ill keep hunting.

Well just took a drive after taping over the seal gap under the windshield. No change. Also removing freedom panels and reseating made no change. Plugs are in floorboards. I can’t pinpoint exactly where it’s coming from. I’m going to have to have someone ride with me or drive while I move around and listen.

Made sure windshield bolts were tight. Made sure freedom panel latches were as tight as can be etc. I’d really like to find it myself. I know I have a new warranty but I also know how dumb lots of dealerships are.

Just a shot in the dark but a lot of Gladiators sat on dealership parking lots. Could gasket drying be an issue? I treated most of mine when I took delivery. Yes, saving $20K off MSRP was worth the effort to me. I have some minor fading on one side of the Jeep. It's slowly evening out now that I've treated it a few times. I also took it to another dealership and paid for a pre-purchase (after purchase) inspection. I trusted the tech and service advisor. They did a whole lot-rot check and said that it looked good. It had almost a hundred miles on it when I bought it because the sales manager has staff drive them home and back when they've been on the lot for more than 90 days.

This is getting annoying. Now I noticed that if I back up at any sort of speed other than slowly I get a whining whistle noise. I’m sure it’s from the same issue but not 100%. So far this new truck has had lots of little weird things.

That’s not related. They all do that.

That's more a trim than a seal. It's a plastic trim attached to the windshield. The actual urethane seal is not visible at all.
Not that that can't cause some noise - but it's not a seal at all - and you want to let water and gunk out that may get in past that plastic trim that's around the glass.
If that was closed, water can get trapped between that trim and the actual urethane bead that sits about 1/2-3/4" behind that. There's a fair gap between that visual trim and the real seal that seals and holds the glass in place.
