You need to get Carvana to call FCA and request a dealer pay-off quote. Sometimes this will require a 3 way call between yourself and the other two parties. When dealerships buys out a lease, at least in NJ, they are sales tax exempt. However, in this lease buyout scenario, you do not get a tax credit on any subsequent purchase, like you would if it was traditionally financed where you paid the sales tax upfront. So it's unique to lease buyouts.
Interesting.... I wonder how willing a Jeep Dealership would be to do this?
Thanks for the info and explanation. Never knew about this

I paid 37,000 out the door for mine and my local dealership that I bought it from offered me 42,000 for mine as it sits with the lift tires and bumper on it. I got about $3000 invested in it for everything and it's got 10,500 miles on it. I'm not selling but I'd be in the good $1000 on it.

Not sure if this applies to the conversation but my brother just traded his old ford in for a new one and the dealer told him that when he gets to 15000 km and 6 months to come back and see if they can buy it back and ship it south of the border. A year ago he was offered 29k trade in, last week the gave him 42k. With the dollar exchange right now there is a huge market selling lightly used trucks to the States. Dealers are making cold calls to everyone asking if they want to sell and then get them into a new truck on the cheap to boot.

The current Carvana cash offer on my 2020 Gladiator Sport is $35,328 and I paid $32,500 for it in March.

Not that I would encourage anyone to get rid of their Gladiator, but you can always order another one!

I made close to $3K selling my 2020 Overland I bought in April due to discounts. I sold it two weeks ago for a new 2020 Mojave and my payment stayed the same. This is a great time to check your equity for sure! Mine had 3350 miles.

on that COVID discount time, lucky you, would love to go back and delay my purchase 5,6 months and cash in on the heavy discounts... but alas, I could not see into 2020 then

I forgot to mention in many states like N.C. if you buy the same model year you only pay sales tax on the New value difference.

Accepted a lease-buyout offer today for $39,600 for the Gladiator including all the modification except for the wheels. Gonna miss it but I can always buy another!

Did you trade in at the dealership or sell private party? If A dealership - which one?

2020 JTR (Sold), 2020 F150 Powerstroke
I just traded in my JTR with 11,400 miles on it. Had soft top, auto, BLIS. Not a whole lot more. MSRP last year when I bought it was $49,300. I paid $44,000 for it (as close as can be figured due to my trade allowance).

I traded it in on a 2020 F150 Lariat Powerstroke. The paperwork showed $9700 off MSRP for the F150 with discounts and rebates and $44,900 for my Gladiator. While the "real value" may be different, I can't know. The F150 came in the day after I had driven an XLT, so it was only at the dealer for a few days when I bought it, not old stock.
Carvana had a $46100 offer on my Gladiator, but I would have had to drive 6+ hours to drop it off (and then get back). Plus, in FL we pay tax on the trade difference. 7.5% on $44,900 is significant.
