Has anyone put a CB Antenna in place of the factory radio antenna? Curious how difficult it would be.

I too am looking to do this. Rugged ridge makes a kit to be able to use the factory location for am/fm and CB all in one.

I’ve read good and bad about this location... the sheet metal is thin there so you can obviously have issues if your antenna is banging against things... I left my antenna alone and did a hood mount with a thicker bracket.

As said Rugged Ridge makes a kit. As soon as budget allows i plan to order it for both my JK and JT. I have heard decent reviews on it for trails and group events.

I think this will be my kit since I don't see anything made up for the JT. My unknowns are exactly how to mount the antenna and if the coax will fit through the existing AM/FM antenna hole on the fender. It doesn't look like the terminating ends are removable on the coax.

Shouldn't it be on the drivers side of the vehicle? at least for highway use??

Anyone look at the President Bill and Andy. The Bill is smaller then an iPhone. 90 bucks, With weather but you cannot tune it for performance. The Andy is larger but has weather and you can tune it for high wattage output. I have and had a Cobra 29 LED in my F150 ( 2013) but that radio is too big for the JT.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but it is genuine and I'm certainly no coms expert.

Why would this matter?

No, good question and I am not much of an expert with only 1 CB and antenna install in past 4 years.

I thought I read it in my research along the way, but can't find any reference to front left installs. Most say center roof if you can but none of the reliable companies say you can't put it on a the truck bed lip, rear spare tire mount or even duals on the truck bed cargo box.

Chalk my comment up to old age and a scary ability to BS. Thanks for asking!!

Looks great. Need to order one for mine soon.
It was more of a pain to install than I had anticipated, but it's a good look now that it's done!

2 Questions as i installed mine on the JK yesterday.

1 - Did you have issues with the mount not tightening or antenna continuing to turn the mount ?

2 - Which antenna is that ? 2' or 3'

I only had a 4' at home and don't like it. I ordered a 3' last night but the more i look i think the 2' may be a better one to use for every day use.

I wish RR would sell just the bracket so i could use a better stud mount.
