I bought a Warn Evo 12-S winch that comes with a controller that can work attached by a wire or by blue tooth remote. There are no charging ports on the remote and it came with no instructions. How does one charge the remote? How long does it take? Any things to avoid with regard to charging the remote?

If it's this model, Warn states that "it charges with a standard micro-USB cable." I know a guy who had issues with his keeping a charge, but after dealing with Warn, he received a second remote and it held a charge much better.

Are you going to let us in on the secret? What remote is it then?

I have the Evo 10s with the same functions and remote. The remote isn’t rechargeable. It comes with a battery that needs to be replaced if it ever dies. Keep that wire handy in case the battery dies when you need it.

I know some of the newer ones use 3 AAAs but, if yours is a single battery, it is a special one.

I have an EVO 12S on my F250. The controller looks alot like a standard corded unit but the head is also detachable and will also work wirelessly.

I have the same remote as you minus the receiver module with the wires, so the controller is only chargeable when it's connected to the winch?

The receiver module is just on the pic I found online. It's built into the Evo winch.
It's my understanding that the cable from handset to winch doesn't charge the wireless handset battery while plugged into the winch. Or plugged into anything for all that matter.
It's a non-rechargeable battery in the handset and must be replaced if it dies. I hope the unit will allow Wired operation even with a dead battery in the handset-controller.
I've only used my EVO 12S once to pull out my son's stuck JKU. And I used it wireless so my handset battery was good.
Maybe a Warn employee can chime in.

It does not recharge. It uses a nonrechargeable battery. Haven’t had mine long enough to know how long it lasts.
