Check Your Cabin Air Filter!

Well, the last two vehicles I had were an '08 GC Overland Hemi and an '11 GC Overland Hemi and neither had a cabin air filter (at least I think the '11 didn't, but didn't have it long enough to check it out). These two are the first two vehicles I've owned that have the cabin air filter.

And yeah, from my recollection, Grand Cherokee was among if not the first Jeep models to have cabin filters.

Changed mine today after 2 years and it wasn’t bad. Cheap insurance not to have the blower overworked and die.

Good stuff. Seeing how dirty mine was, it’s now getting replaced with oil changes. To cheap to risk hvac problems caused by air flow restrictions. In my opinion.

I have low miles on my 2020, just over 12,000. MOPAR recommended interval for cabin air filter is 20,000.

I live in central Indiana, not a high dust area. My cabin air filter was almost black and pretty damned full of crap.

FYI, the WIX filter is the exact match, has the exact same labeling as the MOPAR filter except it doesn't say MOPAR. A further FYI, the engine air filter is also a WIX, all labeling the same except no MOPAR on it.

Thanks for this thread, I got my filter in yesterday and changed it, the old one was pretty dirty and I noticed an instant improvement in smell. I'm at 20K miles, first time change. Now I'll do more often..

Exact same here. About every 5k miles. It’s low cost enough and so simple to do.

The first time I changed my cabin air filter was after a Death Valley trip. I immediately ordered a snorkel (aka, desert air intake) with precleaner for the same rationale as you posted. I check that regularly as well now as I’m a desert dweller who wheels often and in convoys.
