The only time I have issues with water spots is when I use the water at home. We're on a well and a lot of lime. It's the rinse water that's key. If I go in and use the "spot free rinse" at the local car wash, pretty much nothing for spots. If you have a dark colored Gladiator, I highly recommend the Mr. Pink for Chemical Guys. I tried multiple soaps from auto part stores and Wally World and all had the same issue, water spots. My wife bought me a Chemical Guys gift bucket at Christmas and it had the Mr. Pink in it. On my black Glad, I barely have to dry it and leaves hardly any water spots. It cut a lot of the hard work out for me.
Soap is mission critical, but soap can't do anything about spotting from rinse water that has anything at all in it. If the water evaporates it leaves behind whatever is dissolved in it. That's why when I go to a car show I take clean cloth, a chamios, a bucket, and distilled water. There's nothing it in to be left behind if a spot stays on my cars.
