This is a question that gets asked a lot- but some answers vary. I even saw a video where a guy said he needed 2" spacers to fit 35s on his stock suspension and that was not the case with my install. I chose 17" KMC grenades with a -12 offset, paired with 12.5x35 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss.
I went with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss because reviews and testing said they were better in wet conditions and weren't terribly loud- and they live up to the expectation. Road noise is minimal for these aggressive A/Ts and they look great paired with the KMC wheels.
The only thing necessary for the install to prevent rubbing was the air deflector delete from the bumper to the fender.
Florida is flat so I decided to go with 35s vs 33s and was primarily concerned about gear searching with my 3.73s on the sport. It's hard to beat the look of the 12.5x35 compared to the OEM pizza cutters
As anticipated, the 3.73 will do some gear searching on the highway-- It will hit 8th gear but will downshift to 6/7with the slightest change of elevation or wind. I am still waiting on the arrival of the Tazer mini to calibrate my system to the tire size but can already see reason to regear. My speedometer was off by 5MPH after the change.
I was averaging about 13-14 MPG with a full tank of gas at 75mph and 14-16MPG with a half tank.
There was no need for any spacers or modifications outside of the air deflector delete.
I was able to get a full turn without any rubbing on a factory suspension. You will notice some rubbing if there is some flex to the suspension, but I was eager to put these on while I wait for my level kit and mopar lift to arrive.
So, yes this is totally doable without major modification or add-ons. Not sure if I would recommend this for someone running 3.73s living in an area with hills, the shifting would probably become annoying.
Here are some before / After
