So I went to my local Jeep dealership today and drove a 2024 Gladiator Sport S and considering trading my 2021. pretty much the same truck , different color, but it has the side curtain airbags and the adaptive cruise control which I really like. The truck only has 20,000 miles and they are asking 32995.00. The Carfax looks good, Just not my first choice on the color. It is black and I have owned black trucks in the past. They look great clean but hard to keep that way. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Black is a color I like on other people's vehicle, not mine. You are the only arbitrator to know if it is a right fit for you.

Checked Jeep site, 2026 Sport S shows $42k in standard config.. If you're okay with the color, work them for a better price. It's your $$$ get what you want is my standard response when ask what to buy.

I'd get the service history based on the VIN before considering it. I got my 2021 used with 27k miles, no accidents, no recalls needed, looked great! Found out AFTER the sale that ALL doors/hood/tailgate had been replaced under the corrosion warranty, but none of that showed up on the carfax, only found out when I went to a dealer for an intermittent vibration (Manual transmission only, not uncommon, but finding the source is being a bitch) since they checked for prior services (manuals have 2 clutch recalls).

Everything mechanically has been great, no issues. 20k miles later and I don't regret it. Taking the truck to the dealer who did the warranty work because they sent it to a body shop and the body shop screwed up a few things, which they will either fix or pay to be fixed by another company due to damages caused before releasing back to dealer.

I love my 2024 Sport S.
23k miles, I added 35's with Vision rims with -25 offset, a 3.5" Terraflex Short control arm lift with sway bar disconnects, a barricade front bumper and openroad winch.

How much extra debt would you be taking on by purchasing the 2024? Are the two additional features you seem interested in on the 2024 worth that debt?

I'd pass unless there's compelling justification to get rid of your current truck or if the added cost of getting the 2024 could be reasonably paid off within a year.

You can add the ACC to your current JT, FYI. Even the manual transmission offered it.

And unless the insurance rates are that much lower, and you live in an area with high risk of being t-boned...I wouldn't bother.

As already noted, don't trust Carefax. My '03 Cobra was rear ended shortly after I bought it. Considerable damage. New bumper, new IRS control arm, new exhaust. When I put it up for sale, I pulled the Carfax to show to prospective buyers. Not a word about the accident or repairs showed up.

Carfax information is based on Insurance claims. 😉

I got my 2020 Overland with adaptive cruise control and many options. I guess the ACC is OK if you are cruising on a freeway but no good for everyday driving. The 'standard' cruise works great though! Oh, mine had 114k and now has over 119 since October, no issues at all. I did use Carfax to pull the window sticker, very interesting.

Mine went through three insurance companies. Guy who hit me, mine and the guy that I got pushed into in front. Like I said, nothing in Carfax

I am not a fan of Carfax. If you end up in an accident even know it’s not your fault you lose value on your vehicle when you sell or trade it in. Just one reason I don’t like it.

So you do not like Carfax because it can record accidents and you do not want the next buyer knowing that?
