Convert push start to turn key

I really do not understand the issue??? Why is it inconvenient to press a button?
1. press brake
2. press clutch

That’s the issue. You HAVE to come to a
Complete stop. Press the brake.
normally with a key you can keep rolling and restart without pressing the brake and the “push start” from accessory to “run”. Got me?

How about being able to select "accessory" without three pushes, having to start the stupid thing before getting to "accessory"?. I too would prefer to make a half key turn to the accessory position. I would like the positive control of the start and the snap back to the ignition/run detent that a keyed ignition offers. Who knows what the stupid push button is really doing. A keyed ignition with detents would make my day, too.

I never destroyed my key by getting it wet. Oh wait, that is my dislike of having to have a stupid fob to get the push button to work. Ugh.

Thank you, people who know how to really drive a manual transmission. With key start, I love the fact that I can be rolling and just press the clutch and go right to start and it’s just starts on its own not having to come to a complete stop and press the button two or three times to get it started again. Thank you kindly!

People who have been driving manuals for a long time appreciate the fact that you can just be rolling along and start the truck and not have to come to a complete stop and press the damn start button two or three times to get moving. It is extremely inconvenient in some situations And most of us who drive manuals and have been driving manuals most of our lives understand that you can just push the clutch in and keep it moving.

I haven't driven a slandered in so long I've forgotten about that. Makes a lot of sense now. Maybe you can request a program from Z Automotive to override that feature with their Tazer so that you can start on a roll?

Hold up....so with a manual shift JT you can't do a pop-the-clutch rolling restart like any other manual shift vehicle? Even if the vehicle's ignition is in "run" mode?

Nope. It’s an entire pain in the ASS.
I had an issue with the accessory battery and was at work in the parking lot. I was parked in the perfect place where I could just roll my truck down one of the ramps to the next level and pop tje clutch… technically it is possible however, it really doesn’t work and I ended up just having to get it jumped until I replaced the batteries. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all about learning and growing and playing around with new technology, but I don’t see the need to toy around with something that already worked well. It is so rare that people want manual transmissions that a lot of manufacturers are completely doing away with them. I had to have my truck built during Covid and it was truly worth the wait. I love the truck, but that is one of my top complaints.

1) Pull the push button

2) Cut the wires

5) Never press the brake and roll start to your heart's content.

Alternatively you can twist the wires to the brake safety switch together so that it thinks you always have the pedal pressed.

My JLU is a manual and I can cycle through off-acc-run without ever touching the brake. The problem is not the push to start, the problem is that powering the electronics takes a higher battery voltage than cranking the starter. So if it doesn't start due to low battery power, it's because the electronics aren't powering up and a rolling start isn't going to work.

That makes sense, I was getting so frustrated that I pulled the fuse on the accessory battery. So I should reconnect the accessory battery and then I’ll be able to roll start?

I don't expect you will ever be able to roll start. In order to roll start, you have to have enough battery power to power the electronics. If there's enough power for the electronics, there is virtually always enough power to crank the starter, so there's no need to roll start.

You may benefit from a portable battery booster for when the batteries run a little too low to power a start.
