Since I didn’t opt for the Rubicon I needed some sort of sway bar disconnect. I decided on the AntiRock for several reasons. Number one was ride quality, then ease of use and price vs the so called “quick disconnects“. Yes they are expensive but very high quality and with the combo of the Rancho 9000XLs and King hydro bumps it is the best riding combo I have ever had. It is very soft and plush with a bit more body roll in the corners but nothing severe.
I have had many modified Jeeps throughout the years and all I have to say is WOW. I have nothing on this JT except MC 3.5” springs, the AntiRock, and Ranchos with a 3/4” spacer in the rear (I need to add about 3/4” in the rear to make it level, it’s a tad high in the front)That’s it. It drives great, no wandering, smooth ride on 37s with 28psi. I have the front Ranchos set at 4 and the rears at 3. Here are some pics as well as some in my little off-road area near me. Too wet for anything crazy.

Very nice.

I am undecided on the antirock vs the Apex Autolynx.

I have JKS quick disconnects on my TJ but want something a little easier to hook back up when getting back on the road.

Love my Antirock. I had disconnects on my last jeep and always wanted Antirock on it.

I looked at the apex but couldn’t justify that expensive of disconnects. The AntiRock is ready whenever.

My only concern is that some people have mentioned it’s a little too soft on road.

Pure hearsay tho as I have never ridden in a vehicle with it.

I guess if I am thinking of spending $400 on the Apex, I might as well spend at bit more and never have to to get out in the mud to disconnect/reconnect.

It has a bit more body roll, but to me that’s a good thing because it also makes for a very comfortable ride on the street. No more head bobble side to side. It really made a huge difference. I even went with the soft bar over the one they recommended for the JT.

I have the Apex and am happy with them. When I'm airing down I turn 2 knobs and sway bar is disconnected. Air up same same. The Antirock has been around a long time with many happy customers and I really considered it before buying the Apex. Having never owned a Antirock personally, I just felt that it was a compromise. I do a lot of my driving on the pavement, probably 75% or more pavement, didn't want to lose the suspension characteristics that I enjoy on my Mojave, I don't want extra body roll on the pavement, but I did want a simple solution to disconnect. The Antirock has many happy users and they have been around for years and that says alot.

Is this anything more than a nicely designed and beautifully executed replacement sway bar system that is softer than stock?

That's what it looks like. Not that that is a bad thing. Just that its not magic. There are trade offs in on-road performance and accident avoidance safety on the road.

As far as the accident avoidance, roll stiffness plays a big part in whether a vehicle understeers (front end breaks loose first) or oversteers (rear end breaks loose first a/k/a fishtails).

When you soften the roll stiffness in the front you increase the tendency for oversteer. Which can be dangerous on the road. A bit of understeer is desirable on a vehicle like this (not a sports car) because the correction when a car understeers is to intuitively just turn the front wheel more.

I COMPLETELY get it if your Jeep is a weekend toy that will be primarily driven casually or off road. But if its your daily driver and used on highways, there are definite disadvantages to something like this.

It depends on whether you'd rather have a compromise setting for all environments or 2 settings that take a few seconds to switch between.

Anti rock is not a compromise off road.
So you have just as good articulation as if the sway bars were disconnected?

If that's the case, then its so soft that your accident avoidance handling is even more compromised.

Coils like sway bars.

What you get with the anti rock is controlled articulation. You get better traction because the body isn’t flopping around above the axles. The body stays more level. Feels better and keeps weight on the tires.

I wheel with two folks that had Rockjocks on their JK's, didn't put them on their JL's. Neither fish nor fowl with the Currie system, one fellow put JKS disconnects on his JLU Sport, the other bought a JL Rubicon.

I took my bars off my YJ, NOT cool on coils though.

I thoroughly appreciate the cushy ride in 2Hi with the Tazer tweaked disconnect, but having activated it on the street, it's almost scary - absolutely wouldn't want a softer front swaybar. I like the stiffer rear Hellwig, which feeds more oversteer into the picture, but the JT is an understeering boat to begin with.

Had the AntiRock on my LJ for 12 years and loved it! It had 5 different settings you could choose, I had it at the next to most flexible setting. I didn't like having to replace the heim joints every few years, but I guess that's just the nature of the beast. The version for the JT just looks like one setting. I'm thinking maybe ORO's Swayloc might be a better idea.

Those that know understand, some of those that don’t, hate. It’s cool. No one is trying to convince anyone otherwise. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. Use what you want. This was a thread about my experience. I don’t care to hear from those that haven’t.

If I had owned a Rubicon, I wouldn’t have used this bar. It works best for me and after owning several Rubis I really enjoy not touching a switch or reaching under removing crap. The ride is so much better than my other Jeeps, which went a long way into me purchasing this bar. It’s not all about flex which most people won’t even get close to using the stock flex on their sport, let alone a Rubicon.
