I continue to have the same issues and Curt doesn't seem willing to resolve it. I guess I will give in soon and order the stock Mopar controller before camping season starts this year. I am concerned that there is some issue when the knob lights up and sticks. Also concerned as it is now more frequent that it was in the past and at times stays on after the Jeep is parked and turned off.
Sorry to hear. No real issues for me. I do occasionally get a red light on the controller when nothing is connected but it goes away as soon as I hit the brakes and I don’t think I’ve ever had it come back in the same trip. No dash lights or issues. Probably towed a dozen or so times - just towed about 4500lbs on Saturday with no issues. Guessing it is something with the radar cruise ? Good luck.

That is how mine started. The red light would seem to get stuck and goes away when I hit the brakes again. It has progressed to many other colors and much more frequent. I just got off the phone with Curt support and learned that eTrailer is selling the wrong adapter. They are selling the C51459 as the correct adapter for the Gladiator and according to Curt that is actually for a Cherokee and the Gladiator uses a 51527. On the phone with eTrailer now to get the entire thing warrantied and replaced with the correct part. At least they are covering it.

Good luck. Glad to hear they are working with you. I used the 51527 harness. 7 months so far and it seems to be ok

Appreciate the video and information. I've got a 2020 Manual JTR and I had been waiting for the Mopar Trailer Brake Controller. I was about to order it, except in the fine print it says "for Automatic Transmissions only"

The Curt is less expensive, I can mount it wherever I want, and I won't lose my 12V socket, so that's a huge win! And I don't have to take it into the dealer for a flash, or swap any wires around like the Redarc setup forces.

When was your JT built? Before Jan of 2020? If so there is a TSB out there and this could be related to there not being a diode in your cable. The cherokee ones don't have one is my understanding.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that. yes, mine was built in March 2019. Old school JT.

There is a TSB to flash the ABS controller on trucks made before January 2020 so they work properly with a brake controller. This was a result of the finally released Mopar Brake Controller having issues on early models. The aftermarket response was the wiring harness with a diode in it. Having the flash applied is supposed to remove the need for the diode in the aftermarket harness.

I think thats your problem. Check out some of the threads on the mopar one. Either the TSB or a new cable with a diode should fix your issues.

Anyone have a link to that TSB?

$15 cable or $120 and the hassle of having the dealer reflash? I added the cable to my list for when I get to the install.

Well according to Etrailer they are charging $65 for the cable. But Amazon has it for $15 so they will price match.

Its a TSB causing a problem. my understanding is this is the only time those crooks don't charge for a flash.

Well I think one direction of the issue (the dash lights and alarms in Jeep alerting when you touch the button) is the TSB but the issue with the lights on the controller knob seems to be the other direction and isn't resolved with the one way diode. It seems to be an issue with the Kurt controller somehow. But really hoping the new cable resolves both issues.
