Dealership *already* offering discounts

Nope. As I said in my original post, I have no affiliation with the dealership other than using the service department.

They are definitely asking a premium on the aftermarket lift and tires. I am just unsure why everyone wants to key off that one vehicle versus the other 17 that are below MSRP. Seems weird.

Because we know the true cost to add those items onto the vehicle so it pisses us off they try to sell it to some unaware person for 200-300% profit

Install labor on lift: $750

At list pricing: $63,035.

So not the best deal by any means, but not a overpriced ripoff like you guys seem to be making it out to be.... Am I really that wrong here?

It is a bit of a ripoff but again different people use different words to describe a situation. Firstly, they are selling the truck at MSRP even with the mods and that if you shop around will get you savings of at least $5k when you get it below invoice... Then the mods - you won't be getting the original stock parts so if you do the mods yourself, you can save by selling the new stock parts to someone who has a base model or anyone that is interested say at 80% of the price. Replacing the tires/wheels is easy and you can get it done at Discount Tire if you have a TreadLightly membership you save $100 too. Installing the lift yourself might be a bit tough for people who don't know cars/trucks, but you can easily get it done for cheaper if you shop around or if you are uncomfortable and intend to just install the lift at the dealership you would still come out saving at least $7-$8k.

They didn't pay list price though for anything and probably only put on 4 tires, their guy mounted the tires 1 hour work and he's paid $14, etc, etc

Completely agree on these points. I think everyone would agree that doing this kind of modification work through a dealership would come at a premium price. And if you want to compete the deal with multiple dealerships and potentially have to travel to get your vehicle, you can save alot of money. But in the end, for a buyer that wants an "ok" deal on a modded truck, but not have to work hard to get all the work done, this would not be too bad of a purchase.

Definitely 5 tires. I checked.

I have no idea the list price markup over cost is on the lift and tires. But I bet you would be hard pressed today to walk into a dealership parts department and get them to sell you the Mopar lift for less than list. The price on the tires is from TireRack, which I have found to have very competitive pricing on tires. And generally $40/tire for install and balancing seems to be the going rate.

No your not!!

Rant time!!

I’d like to know what shop you are walking into to get those 37’s for $300 each?? Oh wait, tire rack... like I said earlier retail vs online!! Yes those tires are $300 on tire rack but walk into your local off-road shop or dealer and they’re gonna charge $400 (x5 = $2000) they buy at $300 and sell at retail!!! No a dealer doesn’t pay full retail on lift or tires or what not but they are gonna sell at that price if they can.
Again, like I said earlier, I personally would NOT pay that price for the lift and tires but some people will because they don’t want to deal with it!! They want the mods and are willing to pay that kind of price to have it thinking if it’s done at the dealer it doesn’t void the warranty and is included in it. Mopar lifts are overpriced for what they are (3” lift on my JK... Mopar I believe was $1800 or so ; rough country lift online $400 plus installed it myself saving how much in labor)

Let’s look at the big picture on the original post.....

They put the discount on ALL OF THEM!
They just pulled that one particular truck to put the lift on when the parts department got it in. If you look, they are not the only dealer in the world to add overpriced mods to a new car to draw attention to the lot. Go to any dealer and look around. Do they put a base Grand Cherokee Laredo on the sales floor for you to drool over when you walk in?? Hell no! They put the trackhawk on the floor with the hood up so you sell yourself on that instead of the Laredo you can afford.

If you owned a dealership would you give everything away at below cost?? I think not. Is Travis or any of them gonna sell you a Jeep at 5% below and install all your mods below cost with no labor? Capitalism boys! Gas stations sell gas at cost to get you there and put the snacks on the counter to sell at 2 or 3x their cost. That’s where they make their money.

And NO I don’t work for that dealer but compared to the five closest Jeep dealers they are one of the better one. Bought my JK there because they were the only one to take money off the Jeep I wanted and still gave me more than anyone else on my trade (over KBB).

Where you getting it for $1250? The only price I've seen has been $1499.

I guesstimate... being that the total cost was ~$2,500.00... installed... When I glanced at the bill it seemed around 50/50... Thus, the $1,250.00--- Will check the invoice later...

$2500 is actually quite high. It should be $1350 for parts and $500 for install if you can get the right deal. But max should be $1500 for parts and $700 for labor, around $2200 total.

you very well might be right. But they really should mention that in their ad.
My guess is, even if they have a 2" lift and 35s on it, that's worth $3000 installed. Not $8000.

2.5" lift..............just in the front, 35" tire (singular with no rim or air ratchet strapped under the truck, lmao
