Dealership Service Questionable?

Deleted member 66831

I apologize if I went off topic with the BMW service. A comment was also made about Lexus service. Yes, it got off topic. But there does tend to be a lot of problems with Jeep dealership service. Let's just say that some brands appear to have better service.
Ahhh. We were comparing and contrasting. 😀

I have problems with trusting the dealership service too. Part of it probably relates to the decreased sales of Jeep--at one local dealer and Jeep service has one rep that may or may not be in the shop. At another local dealer the Jeep service has been closed and they send you to the nearby Chrysler service department.

I do have about 6 Jeep dealers in the metro I could go to, but no real way to know if one is better than the other.

Funny how the experiences in different brands varies so much. With one brand the service manager would have me in there office, the technician might join us, and go over the car. The interesting aspect of this one was that the car was pretty much a disaster--repairs all the way from a defective A/C controller on day one up to a full engine replacement due to excessive oil consumption--but the trust was so high it did not bug me.

If something critical breaks I have no choice. But I have not reached the point where I trust them to carefully take the dash apart to track down a minor click in the HVAC (alas, it's not the easy to change blend door.

Service after the sale would be helpful eh?!
Service can boost or kill a brand. Everything breaks down.

I changed my diesel fuel filter yesterday, I think I paid $41.00 for it online dealership wanted $438.00 for the filter and installation. While underneath the jeep I checked for evidence of my oil being changed. (Oil pan and filters etc. ). Once trust is lost its impossible to get back.

If trust is lost I never return. Service is too expensive to not do it right!

Warranty for battery, they changed both batteries, dates on replacement battery price that. Two weeks ago, AZ heat has one again killed the cheap battery supplied. Parts guy tells me, warranty only good for first battery set as second ones are replacements. I'm the second person to remove batteries since factory install. This is the standard they are willing to live with. If I did that in my industry I would have been an it of work tech forty years ago. Worst part, the dealer could have made more easy money changing the bad wire harnesses they his, and lost a customer over. Not the first incident with this dealership.

Found the bolt that holds both the engine cover and the CAC piping missing while checking the oil today. Tech obviously left it out/loose when he performed the pump recall update.

That makes every interaction I have had with this local dealer over the past 19 years regarding a personal vehicle a FAIL!

100% of the time they can't seem to duplicate the condition, screw up the scheduling, screw up the repair by leaving wiring/fasteners loose or otherwise trying to get out of performing a warranty repair.

Par for the course?

I had a dealer return my car after they hit something. Front corner of the plastic (~rubber) bumper was broken loose. No real damage to the bumper or paint, but it sheared off all the pop-pins and whatever they hit lost some black paint onto the red car.
Dealer said "it was like that when you dropped it off". No... I pay attention and can list every ding and chip in all my vehicles. Then they didn't even want to order replacement pins!

I never went back to that dealer.
